Man I played saxophone 6th through 9th grades. I loved that instrument. Can you play the recorder? The finger placements are almost identical for the recorder and the saxophone. So are the notes that correspond with the fingering.

Which kind are you wanting to play? I'm assuming the alto, the small one. I have played the alto for 8 years and the bari, which is a lot larger, for about three. Tenor and soprano saxs are the other common types. The fingering is the same for the alto, tenor, and bari I know (not sure about the soprano). I really like the instrument a lot. The bari is my favorite, cuz I get to play all this low stuff and for some reason I bite the mouthpiece really bad on alto (which makes the sound totally craptastic) but I don't bite on the bari...

yeah, so what I basically mean to say is it's a cool instrument, but buying reeds is a pain!!!
