"with fiends like these, who needs enemas?" - regenold bretnor (voiced by his character pappa schlemelhorn, a somewhat mcgoo like character only slightly naughtier)
Anyone can try to grab someone's crotch.....that is common.....nothing special there. It is a rare thing for anyone to grab hold of your heart.
Where’s the sun?” he asked me once. “Behind the clouds.” “Is it always there? Even when it’s cloudy?” “Always.” “Could we see it if we climbed to the top of that poplar?” “No.” “And if we were on a minaret?” “No. The clouds are above the minaret.” “And if a hole was made in the clouds?” Indeed, why don’t people make holes in clouds for boys who love the sun?
'tis the simpleton who boasts of his manhood, (or of anything else for that matter), though others may well posses that of which they do not speak. is not the whole and entire point of gods being gods, to transcend the follies of the human ego? transcend them to such an entire and perfect degree, as to no longer require hierarchy in any form. (we are of course not gods, though many claim to imitate them, and do so poorly. yet even we, are well possessed of the capacity, to so regulate our behavior, and it does not take perfection nor universality of doing so, a mere simple majority might well be sufficient, as to enable organizing society along lines which are far less hierarchical, then those with which for us as a species, have as yet enjoyed wide popularity. the world in which i grew up, was one in which honor was to do so.)
if we understood better how and why this happens and how to prevent it, tyrannies and wars might also be prevented as well. force of arms has never accomplished more then to set them aside temporarily.
from what i've observed of people, for each its a bit of both, and for each, its their own unique combination of them. i'm not saying most people consciously participate in the choice, though some choose to be more logical and analytical about it then others.
the most real and enduring smiles, are on the inside, where they don't always show. when i person is living what gives them the greatest satisfaction, i'm talking about creating and exploring of course, you often don't see this in their faces at all. at least not in any obvious way. you do see the face relaxed though. whatever expression it falls into, when they're not having to cope with the never ending challenges of dealing with each other. this is what i've observed.
