I dont know why but for the past couple of weeks scabs have been appearing on my scalp, I tried using some tea tree oil to get rid of it but it keeps appearing, is there anything i can use to get rid of it?
Im very careful what i use on my dreads anyway so I cant think what it could be?

I had the same thing for a few months, til I cut the dreads off. I used tea tree oil every few days, but it didn't really help so much. I used a mix of peppermint oil, water and some other herbs to calm down the itchy scalp, so I wouldn't scratch my head so much, which always reopened the scabs. I never figured out a solution. but I do understand what it's like. hope someone can answer you, good luck! by the way, you and your locks are gorgeous. they are wonderful, and only after such a short time :)

Do the scabs appear in rings? Disgusting, i know, but it could be ringworm.

Are they actual scabs? Or just dried clumps of skin? I had to switch to a medicated shampoo cause my scalp couldn't deal with washing so much less.

I do recognize this.. it's very annoying, the only thing that helps for me, is wash a lot, but I don't always have time to do that, because my locks take so much time to dry..

What are you using in your weekly wash? I would of thought the deep cleaning contoction would have cleared out everything on your scalp though, that stuff eats away at everything lol.

It could be that your scalp is getting used to your new routine, no brushing, less frequent washings. More weight from the dreadies...

+ cold weather makes things drier..

i think dreadedhotness is right. my scalp had a few scabs at one point, maybe a couple months after i started dreading but i ingnored it and it went away. i wash about once a week too and deep clean about every two months.

By the sounds of it, stick with it and your scalp will adjust?

You should talk to a doctor. You could have dermatitis, parasites, an infection or it could be due to poor hygeine. Only a doctor could say for sure but don't expect it to go away on its own. Get checked out.

I dont do doctors, and it wouldnt be poor hygiene as I wash my hair regularly
