I'm entering medical school, health forms ask whether I've been treated for drug abuse (no) and whether I have ever used marijuana, heroin, cocaine, LSD, etc. I have used only ever smoked pot, never anything else, have not ever in the past 3 or 4 months, mostly ocassionally socially before that. So the question is, how to respond. Honestly, yes I have, socially. As soon as I put down yes, though, there's a permanent record of it. So I'm seriously torn and debating the different implications. There's no paper record of it previously, although friends obviously know. Technically I'm lying if I say no, but I'm scared of the implications of it being on a permanent document. I can't escape the past, but it IS the past, not anything in the present. So yeah... I feel conflicted. Advice?
most likely they wont even care. most of the time drug test and those questions are aimed for people who have problems with harder drugs, i dont think they will care about a occaional pot smoker
I'd put no. I mean, what's the point in telling them? They don't really need to know if you've ever smoked pot. If you have some serious problem with lying to the school, then I guess you should put yes.
sometimes employers put questions like that on employee tests to judge honesty rather than actual drug use. be honest, they have no reason to worry about anything but current drug use, which they may ask later.
Shame is not the issue. His (or her) future and career is the issue. I would put no. Theres no need for them to know wether you've smoked pot or not.. its in the past and has nothing to do with it, and definatly not worth getting a record over it. Basicly.. just ask yourself what good could come of checking down 'yes'
If it weren't something important that you cared about, I'd check "yes" to everything, just for kicks . But it is important to you, so... I'd say you should be honest. People in the medical field should be respectful of your decision to smoke pot; they're pretty darn smart. And besides, if everyone were more honest about their drug use, the world would be a lot more accepting of pot and other things. "Honesty is the best policy." How's that for an overused quote? Heh. Anyway, good luck with medical school! ~Nova
Simply based off the fact they may deny you enrollment based off your use of illicit drugs, I would say no. I mean, there's no real point in checking "yes", and you could jeopardize yourself by doing so.
If it is just a med. history for the clinic, I would either leave the question blank or indicate "I will discuss this only with my health care provider." If it is a legitimate medical history, they can't do anything. If there are scholastic implications, you've got a good question for your medical ethics prof.
Check other and put meth. J/p. Shit just lie.... if they drug test you it wouldn't shwo up so they would ahev noway of knowing.
uuhhhhh i would put no because there seems no reason for them to know this other than to classify you as a target. this information has nothing to do with your health. if you click no, then you may as well be telling the truthbecause they would never be able to catch you out ever, unless you smoked recently and they drug tested you straight after getting the forms. why would you say yes? i mean its one thing if its just some form for real medical use but when you start getting involved with AMERICAN AUTHORITIES you dont go telling them youre a drug user. if youre not from america, then just say no to the initial one but tell the truth in any case whereby theyre actually testing you. like, they do lots of medical surveys and stuff and if its a real survey then i say tell the utmost truth but if its administrative, dont tell em shit
aye d00d, put "no". first off, it could possibly jeopardize your position in medical school. second, it's none of their fucking business
i do! if everyone admitted to picking their noses at some previous point in their lives, the world would be more accepting of it.
