I just heard Scissor Sisters' cover of Pink Floyd's song Comfortably Numb. I just sat there & I was like 'holy jesus fucking christ, what the fuck is this.' I swear to fucking god, it was a really aweful cross between the Bee Gees & '90s club music. I don't know...I am at a loss for words. Anyone else see it on SNL?

Yeah I saw it too. Fucking terrible doesn't even begin to describe how bad it was. It has got to be the worst cover of a song I've ever heard. I mean, Jesus Christ! WTF!?

God, I was hoping they wouldn't play it on SNL, but they did, and it was the 1st time in my life for a minute I actually hated Pink Floyd, but then I remembered it really wasn't them, and then all was right in the world.

Pink floyd obviously gave permission..so in some way liked the band. Did they just do it for the money ?? no i don't think so... If you did not like it, thats fine.

Disrespectful ? now thats a bit ott.

No band should cover pink floyd...unless they do it very VERY well, which the scissor sisters failed at doing so...and why on SNL? Shouldnt they be playing their "hits"?

they arent terrible...kind of catchy i could say, like that song "take your mama out all night", its not that bad...i just dont find it that great, but everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I would however take scissor sisters over 89% of the music i hear on the radio/mtv today.

Permission? Do you think Pete Townshend gave permission for Hilary Duff to cover "My Generation" (and eventually piss all over it)? [IMG]

overall, some pieces and bands should be able to rest and not be duplicated and sold out for the next generation that hangs on the faint memories of a grand band. My opinion was that i thought it was disrespecful. and to that i hold, it IS disrespectful to spew out a classic to sell to the newest teenieboppers looking for a new mindless, computerized beat. And I doubt waters, gilmour and the rest approved this. rights shift hands often, they most likely had NO say in this tragedy. With that, we should spend our time doing else rather than bitching.-- of course after i've put in my final bitch! :)

Well, as I don't live in the USofA I didn't see this, so i can't comment... I've only heard one song of theirs.. that "take your momma out tonight" song, and I quite like that one. I guess anyone covering a Pink Floyd song should be careful, really.
