The U.S. Supreme Court announced Monday that it will not hear the appeal of former Kentucky clerk Kim Davis, the onetime county official who refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples after the landmark 2015 ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges. By denying review, the Court let stand lower-court rulings that found Davis personally liable for violating the constitutional rights of same-sex couples she refused to serve after Obergefell was decided. This is good news. We who cared can all express a collective sigh of relief. I hope this puts it "to bed" so to speak, but I don't know enough about any other legal actions taken up on this topic. I am not sure Kim Davis's case really speaks to the issue at hand but was one that was more personal to her. On either side of the political divide - many did not ever think Roe v Wade would be reversed, but it was. If we ever get through the current events, I think there needs to be some changes made to the Supreme Court, and in both houses of Congress, specifically term limits.
