Ok so I tried the raw vegan diet once and lasted a while, but came xmas and I went back to eating our tradicional rice and beans and cooked veggies. I wanted to give it another go... I felt great on the diet and want to start again. I just find it a bit hard cause I have to go out and buy food every couple of days. And cooked food is so tempting... But I'm gonna do it... It's a late new years resolution... Anyone else wanna join me?!?! Come on!!! Give it a try.
Raw food? I've never even heard of this diet. Is there something wrong with cooking the food--or is it a return to a simpler time? I wanna know, I wanna know...
Oooh, good luck! I want to work on losing some weight & stabilizing my diet before I go to something like raw. But I'd love to hear how it works for you! I'm a little skeptical about my ability to keep to a diet like this, but think it would be helpful to annual de-toxing to start & finish with a raw diet. But no tea??? Oooh, that'd be the tougest for me. love, mom
well... I have to say that the last time I tried it I felt great... my energy level went up, I didn't need to sleep as much and my mood was better also... I lost about 5 pounds in a week. I didn't need to loose it but my body looked leaner, and i felt great about that. The only cheating i did was with tea, cause the purpose of making herbs into tea is obvious... Unlike cooking food where it looses it's essential minerals, nutrients and vitamins. The raw vegan diet isn't for everyone... you have to have your mind set on what you want and how your going to eat properly. If you don't eat balanced meals you can get sick. On days where I didn't eat properly I would start feeling dizzy or get headaches. So it's good to have planned meals. PharaohWhim, raw vegan eat only fruits, vegies, sprouted grains and legumes, seeds and nuts. This diet has living enzymes that are destroyed when food is cooked. When you eat cooked food your body uses it's enzymes to digest it properly, this takes energy from your body. and since you are burning away vitamins and minerals your body will need more food in order to get them. you should read up on it if you are truly interested... I think it's the best diet. other reasons for choosing this diet is you waste less water cause you won't have dirty dishes, pots or pans. You will have less waste cause you won't have cans, boxes and bottles like you would usualy have when you buy procesed foods. you won't spend time cooking and you won't use up gas or electricity for cooking.... By the way it is delicious. you start trying knew combinations of vegies and fruits and make strange things you wouldn't imagine taste so good...
check out the rawfood.com forum silent. youll find ample support and love and lots of great reads. and you can do tea... you can make sun-tea and theres a few other techniques i forgot. you could probably use a dehydrator to warm the water to just the right temp. and not go over. i cant think of any healthier way to lose weight than just trying to eat your best and detoxing the body of all the junk thats built up in it... also you dont have to go 100% raw either. even the most hardcore raw foodists will tell you 100% is not for everyone. its just a matter of being conscious about what else you allow into you i guess, and incorporating as much raw as possible. and listening to your body and what it wants and doesnt.... eating with your body, not your head and your taste buds. it unfortunate most people are resentful towards losing weight and gettin in shape, and have bad connotations associated with these things.. its very very rewarding to me.. plus when you discover true health is actually a high, it makes it all the better.
I have been trying to eat MUCH more raw than I used to, and I think it's really doing a lot for my health. I want to 100% raw for a while, but not forever. I might have to come on here for more tips/support/suggestions when I do, do that.
well I've been doing prety good, although I did sneak some tuno yesterday, but besides that it's gone good... It's true that I don't have to go 100% raw... I mean sometimes I crave tofu hehe... Go for it apples!
hmmm, I don't conciously follow a raw diet, it just happens some days cos i'm tooooo lazy to cook... and i have no dishwasher. Hate kitchen work so i keep a stash of nuts, seeds, grains, washed and cut up veggies in tupperware, the hummus and whole grain breads are the only non-raw food during these lazy days. Gotta say i feel noxious by the end of the day. Not for me.
well good luck with sticking to it! I'm not sure I could ever do this, it seems like it would take so much effort to stay healthy this way. maybe sometime when life is more settled for me. but yeah, good luck!
