This is by far one of Depp's best works although TOTALLY underrated. I think this came out after The Ninth Gate (another one, perhaps the BEST? of Depp's work) if I believe correctly. If nothing else, the dark mood of this movie certainly goes along with the Ninth Gate's mood, although I wouldn't say that the Ninth Gate was as horrifying at times as the Secret Window was. If you haven't seen it, watch it sometime, it is a very well made movie.
I didn't think it was anything too spectacular.. I've seen too many films with a similar plot twist to make it stand out at all.. Obviously, Johnny Depp played the part well as usual, but I thought it was just a run-of-the-mill thriller..
I think Johnny Depp is an incredible actor, I would have to say that his best work was Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas!! I was, however, very dissapointed with Secret Window, it was building up to be a great movie and then it felt like someone needed to finish it really quickly and had recently watched Fight Club! Just my opinion!
the movie wasnt that great...i thought the ending was terribly predictable. johnny is always such an amazing and deep actor though, and that definitly goes for this movie. but as for the actual plot...meh, he's been apart of greater films.
this movie was horrible. a previous poster said it best...it was like the writer had just watched fight club and hoped that nobody else in the world had seen it. i guessed the ending within the first twenty minutes, and i cant believe depp got caught up in this garbage.
haha I didn't like Secret Window. It made me think that Johnny Depp is on the decline. I hated how the whole storyline was just explained away by him being crazy...there was nothing to figure out, it wasn't scary, and he played kind of an annoying charecter.
I thought it was kind of original aside from the "Oh no I'm the killer" part. That I did see coming, but the fact that he actually killed them both, and got away with it I liked. And the corn thing. That's a great idea.
Well, perhaps the plot wasn't the best written, but the theme and mood of the movie really make up for that. And of course, Depp's amazing acting, as usual. But I really liked the ending, how he got away with it, and at the end, how when he goes into town, and everybody is scared of him since he has the reputation of a murderer, and then when that cop comes and tells him "We know what you did. We'll get enough evidence one day to put you away" and Depp is like "I'm writing this story. You know, the ending's the best part of the story. And this one's really good." I'm sorry, but I cannot agree with the people on here who said the movie was shitty. Bullshit. Bullshit. Depp's acting by far makes up for anything the script might have been lacking. And the mood, the feel of the movie, certainly adds a lot to it too.
My husband didn't think it was all that great but I loved it... I'm not one of those people who thing that Depp is particularily good looking, but he is a fantastic actor... and as cheesy as this may sound, I'm one of the few people who likes the movies based on Stephen King's works...
I thought it was great and very unpredictable but, i still predicted it, I thought it was just me though. That makes it less great.
