So I have an appointment with my doc tomorrow. He hasn't prescribed any opiates for me (due in part to going to drug rehab) but he seems like a reasonable guy and I may be able to convince him to.

So my question is: Is it okay to say "hey I'm in pain can I get pain pills" without specific drugs or doses or is it better to tell him how my pain has negatively affected my daily life and let him come to the decision on his on?

I guess by "tomorrow" I actually mean today.

i would say whatever it takes to lead him to make the decision himself......like when i say my foot is killing me do to nerve damage, i let them know, its every step, walking the dog, to the bathroom, to the fridge to the mailbox, driving up your stairs because the elevator is down, every step i take PAIN up and down the sidelines of my sons football game......IT IS THE TRUTH.....u cant just say i hurt, you have to let them know that it is effecting your quality of life everyday......

Sigh. My doc put me on Cymbalta and wants to give me a cortisone shot in my spine. He is dead set on not giving me opiates it seems, at least until every non-opiate avenue is exhausted.
