Looks like this is going to be a bitchin night in the jungle. Woke up at 4:30 in the morning to heavy rain. Rained all day. Started getting emails about a tropical storm. I'll be damned if there isnt a small storm 12 miles from Belize City. I am about 50 miles inland. Love me some rain.
Is that sinkhole in Guatemala City? They are having problems with those. Storm was awesome. The river is now 30 feet higher. The deck and my dock are under water. Some of the people I know are searching the river for a large boat that got washed away. That was some major rain.
No, I meant 30 feet higher. Wide too. The river over the years has carved a rather steep bed. The first photo I took a long time ago at a barbecue I did. You cant really see how steep it is. But yes, It is up over 30 feet.
Wow, that is a massive amount of water. I hope your home is safe and that it recedes soon so that damage and erosion is minimal.
Here is the view from my porch overlooking the lower deck. I am fine and the house is safe. In the lower part by the base of the Palm trees you will see areas of brown. That is the muddy river water. Underwater are my dock, 2 sets of stairs, a lower deck area that I use for barbecue, another 2 sets of stairs, all sets of stairs have between 10 to 15 steps. Plus someone I know has lost a $90,000 faerie on the river. It is probably in the Atlantic now. Another day in Paradise.
yes. tropical storm alex. the first named storm of the season! http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100627/ap_on_bi_ge/tropical_weather
Belize is beautiful in places no doubt about it. Usually the water is pretty clear when it has not been pounding down rain for a week during a tropical storm. They name tropical storms now? Those weather people must be getting bored. I would of named it "Spot", but I have no influence with those weather people. Sigh.
It could have been so much worse. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFM1X0o2pnc"]YouTube- Hurricane Bound For Texas Slowed By Large Land Mass To South
