"If Sri Ramakrishna is not a liar, then that means Jesus Christ is. You can't have it both ways, unless you are an air head, and nothing means anything to you because you don't have to think about anything." Actually you can have it both ways. I don't know what bible you read but please do read it again. Especially the places where it talks about tolerance.
I do not appriciate you calling me names...its not very nice... ::sigh:: And I sure did not say that Jesus was a liar...but I wish for once you would stop it with this whole prophocy thing...is that how you judge things? I grew up Catholic (not just Christian!) and have not ever heard the religion of Christianity talking about prophecies save the one where Jesus is to be born... I really don't think that spirituality is about fulfilling prophecies...its about living here and now as the best person you could be.....about finding a way to communicate with God...breaking down the boundaries between this world and the next....you can think what you like about me....but you don't know me...so I wouldn't take it too far......
Well I was brought up Catholic to, and I did not learn a blasted thing about the Bible until one day my dad pulled me out of the school after he learned how some of them had abused me. I can tell, you no nothing about the Bible, and when you say you wish I would stop that whole prophecy thing. wow. Don't you understand, that one third of the Bible is prophecy. And if you say you never heard the religion of Christianity talk about the prophecies, that tells me the kind of church you went to. I'm sure at your church they talked more about vegas night, and bingo. Did they ever talked about the Word of God? These Priest and ministers should hang their heads in shame. I can't speak for your church, but I can read what Jesus Christ has stated about prophecy. Revelation 1 The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angle to his servant John, who testifies to everything he saw-that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near. Now Jesus Christ tells us to read it, why doesent your church tell you that? I know why, because your church is spiritually dead. In the real christian world, where people have a real love for God, the prophecies are a big thing. Because God is telling us what is going to happen, and He is preparing us for the future. In a church like yours, from the priest on down, they don't have a clue. Their is so much in this Book and to hear you say you never heard anything about it's prophecy, is truly sad.I have been on this earth for 55 years, and I can tell you God is getting the stage ready. Our generation will see the return of Jesus Christ. And to think there are so many sleeping churches out there, that are clueless. I don't know if you even go to church but someday I hope you find a church where they talk about the prophecies, for they are the backbone of Christianity.
Your kind of tolerance, is the kind that sends people to hell. And no, you can't have the truth both ways.
The church I went to always seams to be the opposite of what people think of the Catholic church (either that or I missed something all these years of attendance and CCD)... I was under the impression that Jesus was love...and that we were taught unity and understanding...never in all my years of growing up was I ever taught that someone would go to hell right off...God was always ever forgiving and loving...and so was Jesus...he was your friend...your brother...and you always remembered to be kind...and to perform works of mercy (both corperal and spiritual)...and we sang beautiful songs like with words like:"Let us build a city of God...let our tears be turning into dancing. For the Lord our light and our love...has turned the night into day"...and "Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me. Let there be peace on earth; the peace that was meant to be. With God as our father...brothers all are we...let me walk with my brother in perfect harmony."....songs that although we did not have to memorize, nor did many kids like church...I had memorized and could spout them off...and mean every word of it...I only began searching into other religions when I had read about the Krishna Conscioussness movement and realized how similar it was to Christianity...and the more I searched the more I found how every religion was so similar..."With God as our Father...."...perhaps I am a horrible Biblical scholar...perhaps I am not as old as you are...nor have I been reading the Bible as long....perhaps I don't know the prophecies...maybe I should...maybe I shouldn't.... "It is better to see God in everything than to try and figure it out. “-Neem Karoli Baba I always thought this such a beautiful quote... and perhaps he is right...perhaps love, sincerity, and an open mind to anything is all you need....when you get too caught up in the theology of it all...you lose the beauty that is spirituality... And perhaps you disagree with everything I just said (perhaps you didn't understand a word of it because I tend to babble and not make any sense...lol)...its ok...just putting out what I feel...
That seems to me like a contradiction in terms - tolerance sending people to hell? It's the intolerant who dreamed up the idea of hell to begin with. If one is tolerant one isn't in the business of condeming others for not thinking exactly as one does oneself. That's what tolerance means. Tolerating other views and ideas and visions of the universe without having a judgemental re-action.
The same God that destroyed the world in the flood, is the same God that loves those that love Him. The Bible states that the time will come when the world will not endure sound doctrine. Many of the Churches have so misled the people, that even Jesus said, when I return, will there be any faith left on the earth? Spirituality is not are goal, but giving your life first to Jesus Christ is. If you follow Him, true spirituality will follow. Seeing God in everything, but ignoring who God is, will only lead to a faith without power, or purpose. Jesus Christ is not one of many Gods to be worshipped. Jesus is the only true God, who fulfilled the three hundred prophecies of the Old Testament, and this same Jesus is comeing back to our world again. For Christ declares, that the generation that sees the rebirth of Israel, will not pass away, until all of the Bible prophecies are fulfilled. We are that generation. We are soon to enter Gods third day.
Parents who are tolerant of their childs bad behaivour often end up with children who have no respect for them, and often children like this grow up to exhibit anti social behaviour. If the Bible is just another false religion then I suppose who would care what anyone does. If there is no real truth who would care. The Bible said Hell was a place prepared for the Devil and his angles. Yet if mankind joins with the Devil, there is room enought for all. Some will say as you have this place does not exist. I have never experienced such a place so I can only believe that the Bible is speaking the truth. However, the Bible does say that demons exist, and I can tell you from personal experiences they do. Way back in 1973 I had encounters with two of them by the names of Abjar and Altra. The encounters lasted for about 6 months off and on, and I was only able to free myself from their torments when I met a group of Christians at a Bible study in the basement of the Crete Il. public library. These demons spoke of Hell and their hatred of Christ, before they were commanded to leave. One did go, but the other said he would rather be destroyed then burn in Hell. I and another person heard his screams, while another woman present saw him burn up on the floor. True Story. So yes, naturally I believe in Hell and everything the Bible says. When you have witinessed the things I have, you understand what is at stake. I know the Bible is true. That event happened to me 33 years ago, but I remember it, as if it were yesterday.
So - no toleration then. Either believe, or go to hell. But hell is not a real place - it is a product of human imagination, as is much else in the Bible and other books of mythology. There is no way it can be reconciled with the idea of divine love. If god loves all, he can't then send them to hell. Either that, or the definition of love has to be changed. Your encounter with 'demons' seems like either a set up, or a manifestation of some form of mental illness in the persons claiming to be demons. I'm afraid such experiences are wholly subjective. The imagination can construct all kinds of things, and if we rely on archaic systems of thought such as are embodied in large sections of the Bible, we become prey to such unhealthy imaginings. It doesn't mean they are real.
The job I presently hold requires a great deal of sound judgement and requires a great deal of responsibility. I can assure you, what I experienced was no set up, and was not subjective. It actually happen. Those who believe in a God of only love are not considering at all, a God of Truth, Justice, and judgement. Your concept of God is, I can live like the Devil, but don't worry, God won't punish me. He loves me to much, so I can do whatever I feel like. That is the kind of God that comes out of human imanigination. When you say no to Christ, you are sending yourself to Hell. The God of the Bible states that He would that all would come to repentance. Another words that is what God desires. But your free will, actually decides where you will go. God did not send His Son to die on the cross because He had nothing better to do that day. Christ fulfilled the 300 prophecies of the Old Testament, He is the only one that can save man from sin. All man needs to do is ask Him in to their heart, and ask for forgivness of their sins. Christ will forgive all, who truly seek Him, and His salvation.
I thought Jesus said it's no reward to love only those who love you, but you should also love your enemy. I believe God requires nothing of us, and love isn't really love if its conditional. I believe the only true love is unconditional.
Jesus did say that during the Sermon on the Mount and it was in reguards to working your way to heaven by the law. At the end of the Sermon, the Jews present knew that no one alive could be that perfect. As a result, Christ was pointing out that trying to earn salvation by the law would be impossible. And salvation now would require something other than works. It had nothing to do with God giving everyone a free pass to heaven. You say God requires nothing of us. Does that statement come from your imagination, or is that based on some authority that has passed that knowoledge down to you? The Bible states that unless a man is Born Again he will not see the Kingdome of God. Jesus states that there is a physical birth, yet there must be a spiritual birth. John 3:16 For God so love the World that He gave His only Son, that whosoever believes in Him will not parish, but will have everlasting life.
You are going to really pounce me because I know present Christianity doesn't teach this...but what about reincarnation...? I know that early Christianity (that that was taught by the original apostles) taught this concept...instead of this horrible "hell"...that if you choose not to change and/or not to seek God...that you keep getting reborn until you have worked out your trappings and your evils...you're probably going to pounce on me and tell me either a) I'm going to hell b) Its not in the present day Bible so forget about it (well literally anyway...there is a good chance that most of the Bible is figurative...meant for us to learn its lessons...much like fables that are told to children to teach them morals...) or C) both...but this is the Hinduism forum so I do not see it anywhere close to out of line to bring it up...
Out of your human imagination in this case, as you know zero about my concept of god. I don't believe in a god who punishes people for an eternity. Such a god would be a monster, a vindictive and vicious tyrant. A demon.
These people are like clockwork toys - and your words are sure to give this one a good winding. No doubt it will produce a predictable and dreary response.
Don't worry I won,t pounce on you. But the Bible and the Apostles no where in scripture ever preached or taught reincarnation. And if the Bible was purly figurative, divers would not be finding the remnants of Pharoahs army at the Red Sea Crossing site. And the end time prophecies which speak of Israel returning as a nation and retaking Jerusalem near the end of time would not be occuring. Eternal punishment was first mentioned in the Old Testament, the New Testament only revealed the details of this punishment. And Hell is horrible, and that is why Jesus warned so many to avoid this place. And that is why His death on the cross is so important. Because according to the scriptures, all that follow Christ will be spared from this place. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave us His only Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not parish, but will have everlasting life.
So all the tyrants of the world get a free pass to heaven, even if they murdered 20 or 30 million people. Child molesters sit on the right hand of God, and abusers of mankind get to walk down the golden streets of heaven. I believe in a God who says what He means, and means what He says. I believe in the God who fulfilled the 300 prophecies of the Old Testament, who's prophecies of His coming are playing out before are eyes. Yet the world turns up their nose to Gods obvious truths. Jesus asks the question, how shall they neglect so great a salvation. Even now, after they have discovered the Red Sea Crossing site, the real Mount Sinai, with all of the land markings the Bible describes which proves the accuracy of scripture, few want to see it. The Biblical story described in the Bible of the Children of Israels passage across the Red Sea is now being found carved in stone in the Wadee El-Mukattab, Sinai. Yet few will consider it. But show a scientist a ancient tooth of a pig, or a bone fragment, and they can build the whole theory of evolution around that. And then demand this be taught in the public schools, and they call this science. http://www.bibleprobe.com/exodus.htm http://www.arkdiscovery.com/MtSinaiPAX.htm
