Be afraid. Be very, very afraid. Then be angry, be very, very angry, because its going to take a lot of angry people to make sure this doesn't happen.

This is completely insane. The US is now in a class with Nazi Germany. Indefinite detentions of american citizens without charge cannot be allowed.

Yes, habeas corpus does protect us now, but it has already been trashed by the war on terror.

YES FOLKS WE HAVE LOST THE WAR ON TERROR IF WE CHANGE OUR LAWS LIKE THIS!

The timing on this is uncanny. This is disguised as a terrorist bill to avoid the wrath of the average American lacking critical thinking skills, but in truth this bill is a means to squash revolt.

I wonder if this one was waiting in the wings or if they wrote it after the protests began.

It is patently unconstitutional.. it seeks to deprive people of their rights to free speech. Every Senator who voted in favor of that bill has sought to violate the constitution- to deprive ordinary citizens of their constitutional right to speak out against the corporate fascist state that this has become. they have demonstrated themselves to be unfit to serve in government and should be forced to resign. Anyone who thinks detaining citizens who are exercising their right to peaceful protest is a good idea then they have shown themselves to be unfit to serve in government.

Well they haven't said this is to stop the protests. They say it's to stop that vague concept known as "terrorism".

Ah yes... I stand corrected. Of course I should always take into account their flawless record of telling the whole truth.

They're still acting to deprive citizens of their right to due process... still criminals in elected office- wiping their metaphorical asses with the very constitution they swore to protect.

Most of the bills originate in the house... trying to find its numerical designation... should have the prefix "HR" (House Resolution) which suggests it's close to getting the president's signature.

Yea i think this is the beginning of a rather horrible time for people in America and throughout the world. This is a point in our civilization where the "1%" is totally trying to control the rest of the world for their own purposes. I personally think we are at a tipping point in our civilization in the sense that ether the majority of the people wake up and realize that we should not be ruled by such people or fall in line like cattle.

It was probably penned after the Oklahoma city bombing,,, the last time a bunch of Americans were getting fed up with the Fed and things started catching on fire here and there in the wake of the first Gulf War and "shortly followed" by 9/11.

And Iran will be the "Uniting cry" to bond the nation in a new wave of patriotism once more,,, or so they're hoping at least.

I think OWS has too much momentum, and then theres the possible Anonymous factor to consider,,, any and everyone engaging in small acts of civil disobedience,,,

    Glorious time to live. :2thumbsup:

I wonder how much longer the peaceful aspect of the protest will remain? Seems about time the Psy-Ops guy's started sending in their goon squads to cause trouble and stir shit up at the events.

yes, and using vague terms and vague concepts will enable them to label anyone who speaks out against the government a "domestic terrorist."

It will remain peaceful as long as the government allows it to be peaceful. Then another Kent State will probably happen and some protestors will remain peaceful and some will get so angry they'll probably turn violent, and who can blame them?

Once any protest becomes violent, the government will use it as an excuse to declare martial law.

    Thats my prediction.

so a proposed amendment to the bill, and I'm not exactly sure I understand the amendment but from my understanding it would not allow indefinite detainment of American citizens, did not pass.

So. To sum it up. The government can now detain anyone. Indefinitely. Without charge.

    Fuck. This is serious.
