As you may have read from some of my other threads this is my first time growing cannabis. Now that i have mainly sorted everything out it's time for the selection of seeds/seed strain. I am considering Early Pearl of Sensi seeds. I was first thinking of growing early Girl but it's mostly indica, but I want the europhic high, not relaxing high. I heard Early pear is a resistant plant to mold, is this a good choice? Your views please, If you disagree. Could you possible state why and what plant you think i should start with. Thanks
The only strain I have experience with is Early Pear, I my experience when tended to properly and grow correctly they produce a very enjoyable smoke. I would suggest growing a skunk strain, but it's a bit more time consuming and a bit harder. Has a way better smoke to it though.
At 51 deg north (i'm in your area too) i just don't think early pearl will be particularly early ... i reckon harvest would be around 10th Oct. Ideally you want ripe tops before the end of Sept, when it's still sunny but cooler and hopefully dry. At Doc chronic check out secret valley seeds, they do a brainwarp and a durban that would both suit you well. If you fancy ordering from abroad check out blue hemp seeds for some great outdoor strains.
For a first grow stick with either bag seed or some cheap Nirvana Northern Lights. I say bag seed so as to save you money while riding the learning curve.
Thank you very much for the help, I am def not doing bag seeds. So Early Pearl is a no no? What should i choose then? This have put me off a little, i want a stavia strain that is easy to grow but has a fairly high yeild . . Anyone suggestions? I live in the UK so it isn't the warmest of placest.
try c99 or a c99 cross. Last grow I grew an c99 blueberry cross and it turned out nice, and would do well outside. Finished in around 50 days too. Joey weeds sells f2s at hempdepot.ca edit: http://hempdepot.ca/seeds/joeyweed/Cinderella99.html The buds werent too dense so I don't think mold would be a problem. Peace.
What about Durban? http://www.cannabis-seeds.co.uk/products/388/durban.html Or Durban Poison http://www.cannabis-seeds.co.uk/products/285/durban-poison.html This site is from the UK, so i would like to buy from them as it would be easier. If not thoese two strains, can you see any other that would be any use? For our area? Thanks alot for the help, sorry for asking so many questions.
Doc Chronic is by far the most professional and reliable seed retailer in the UK Try these links: secret valley seeds I'd suggest the Brainwarp or Durban http://www.drchronic.com/products.asp?category=Secret+Valley+seeds dutch passion (feminised) I'd suggest the Passion#1 (used to be known as Amstel Gold), or the Hollands Hope http://www.drchronic.com/products.asp?category=Dutch+passion+fems+x+5 Also check out 'Homegrown fantasy' seeds there ... they have Early girl and Durban too ... and a bit cheaper. You are right about sativas being less prone to mould than indicas and if you really want a more sativa type plant then maybe choose one of the many Durban type varietys available. It's usually pure indics which are heavily resinous that suffer mould problems ... also a south east facing position will get more morning sun in the autumn, helping to dry up the morning dampness and avoid mould. For a nice early finishing plant though i'd go with the Brainwarp from secret valley seeds (canadian genetics ... bred outdoors at our latitude) ... i reckon their Durban would be a good early one too. http://www.hg420.com/showthread.php?t=46386
I choose brainwrap and have ordered it. I am paying by cash. One thing I thought was cheeky is that the order came to £33.31 they said they do not accept change so I emailed them asking what should i do. They said that you should send £35, this will stop the postman knowing you have money in there. Fair enough, but If they have 200 orders in a year . .. 200 orders coming to £33.31 ea. They send £35, so they make a profit of £338 a year just on not accepting change. £1.69 isn't much, its still. .You know. Lol, sorry I'm having a bit of a bitch at them. I talked to some X-growers and they said you have to be careful of heli's and police (obv) as they plant mini cameras around your area. If a heli started hovering where I was looking after my little ones, I suppose I would have to run my ass off. For 2 days. Great Lol
Hey i'm really glad you went for the brainwarp (gotcha with the pics eh?) Personally i bought some of the Timewarp F5s (next generation seeds) but i very nearly went with the brainwarp. The two are related both being bred from the famous 'Texada Timewarp' clone (some will rate the timewarp but others not ...it's been around a long time). The brainwarp is the original timewarp crossed with their 'secret sugar' male (a favourite male of theirs) and it's an outdoor tested F1. It seems very similar to my timewarp F5s (looks almost identical) and they both will yield some nice chunky lemony buds before the end of September. It's good to hear you're already preparing your plot. And don't worry about helicopters ... thats mainly in the USA, but do hide yourself from air traffic when you're out there. Have you thought about taking cuttings when you have some known females? You can expand your number of females of you start early enough. You can put out seedlings and cuttings right up to the middle of July, but the best earliest time to put plants out is begining of May. Most plants show sex (pre flowers) in 6 - 8 weeks, or you can force flower them under 12/12 for 10 days until they start show flowers and then 'reveg' them again under 18/6 so they go back into their vegetative growing state. ...some ideas there
