Who decided that women and men should have seperate public restrooms? What's so wrong about them having a shared public restroom? Is it because they find each other attractive? If that is the case, why would society like to get between what is infact natural? Segregation between blacks & whites has been broken up by far. I say it's time segregation between men & women be broken up too. It's for everyone's own good. Everybody is so programmed and conditioned a certain way that they dont see what breeds a form of descrimination. It's a matter of how we're raised to segregate from the opposite sex. Which of you honestly wish to continue aiding in segregation of sexes that obviously tends to sway a person to sexism in society? And which of you honestly wish to end this segregation between men & women in public places?
i wouldnt... share it. its private, its personal, and i already have a problem going to pee there with other women.
I agree but remove the mirror cos women spend forever in front of that thing. I used to work in a night club and where I was I could see into the lady's, just the sinks of course but god it was educational. you've no Idea how much time they spend adjusting neck line of their clothes for maximum exposer and then come out and give it a token tug up. most of them don't wash their hands! I was stunned I figured women were clean they're worse than us. But if we start sharing then they'll have to keep up the pretence that they're cleaner than us. and will someone shift that crying woman! nobody knows her but cos she's crying they huddle around her trying to console her. they can't get any sense out of her cos she's crying convulsively, perhaps she should be crying! maybe she did something terrible and feels bad. I think it's a plot cos there always one in every nightclub lady's so many times a girlfriend disappears for half an hour cos she was trying to comfort this sobbing mess! and it never works! maybe a new tactic? as you walk out say 'serves you right' see what happens then
I dont think I would like it. I mean it depends on the guys inside the bathroom, but since we women already get a lot of annoying encounters with men outside the bathroom, I dont think I would like to be in one full of strange guys. If everyone was going to be respectful and mind their own business, I wouldnt care.
I think you're absolutely right. Gender-specific restrooms are no different than race-specific restrooms. There is no good reason why we're separated. It's not like we're showing our sexual parts to one another. And even if we were, that would be pretty natural anyway. I had my first unisex bathroom experience when I was in Europe. At first it was a little strange, but I realized that it was only strange because I had been conditioned to think it was. After I realized that, I was very comfortable. In fact, it was pretty liberating. I think if we made all restrooms unisex it would lessen our taboo on bodies.
Several restrants in town have only one bathroom. The LGBT center advertized "gender neutral restroom" in addition to their other features. I assume that most buisness have seperate restrooms because the bulk of their customers want them. My issue is buisnesses that have no public restrooms for customers. Why does the owner want me to pee on his flowers? ("Gender neutral restrooms" have no urinals, but do the stalls have recepticals for used Kotex? Does a Tampax/Kotex machine make a restroom not "gender neutral". Kind of a silly point, but looking at it might help define "gender equality" between sexes with different physiology.)
You know if women would crowd around us guys and watch We'd try so hard to impress with cocksmanship. We'd nail every urinal with fantastic marksman ship and artistic interpretation maybe a few tricks. it would be a bit rough waiting for a semi before hitting the unisex loos. if you hear a round of applause you turn around and walk out cos you don't want to follow that act. women could ask the guys if they have enough makeup on and not have to worry the way they do when they ask a woman cos she might be trying to sabotage their casual sex life.
i use mens washrooms all the time if the ladies is full. sooo yeah i think they should be unisex, it just seems silly to have them separate.
I live in a dorm right now that has 1 bathroom for women & 1 bathroom for men. For some damn reason the women's bathroom gets cleaned twice a week and we can't use it while they are cleaning it or whenever the are fixing something in there, and it never fails cuz I always have to go pee when the women's bathroom is off limits. Well luckily the men's room has no lock on the door, so I run in there every week. (ain't found no guy coming out of the shower yet) Usually public bathrooms have a door on each toilet stall anyways. I grew up with brothers and 1 brother. My 7 kids & later grandkids have had to learn how to share bathrooms together. (what were shower curtains invented for?)
As a rape victim, I would be AGAINST having same-sex bathrooms because there are rapists out in our world. No, I don't think every male is going to rape me, but I know there are freaks out in this world who may if I put myself in a situation where it can happen. If I was in a bathroom alone and a male comes in I would feel unsafe because I know he could potentially be a rapist. You can not read someone's mind and tell if they're a rapist or not. I know females are capable of rape too, but it is less likely to get raped by a female in a female public bathroom. I am sure it does happen though. I have to think realistically. I'd rather go to a sex-segregated bathroom and know that there are less rapists lurking around.
Bumble, If I were a rapist, I would not stalk public restrooms. Someone might walk in when I was busy. I would look for more seclusion. (Sex seperated restrooms get half the visitors of uni-sex restrooms. That sounds like uni-sex rr's are more traveled and therefore safer.) According to Conrad Hilton, to keep the water inside the shower and off the bathroom floor.
I agree that it should be so but it'll be a toughy to implement. Right now anything related to nudity is automatically sexual, unfortunately, so at the outset everyone will have to deal with giggling and perving (which will go away once it becomes commonplace). And there's so much bullshit to get around. Women are not supposed to be human in a lot of ways, it wasn't so long ago that we "went to powder our noses" instead of having an honest piss. We also don't fart and don't enjoy uninhibited sex (unless we're whores), and we definitely never drop a deuce. Heavens no. I personally don't even have an anus. I'd like to see that whole pile of horseshit knocked down, jumped on in stilettos, drowned, revived, drowned again, revived again, set on fire, and then stoned to death while it burns. It's up to us to destroy the illusion and humanize ourselves, because we're perpetuating it. I think that's truthfully what's keeping many (most?) women from jumping on board with the idea. I have to take issue with that. Where the big old toilets used 7 gallons of water per flush, the big old urinals used 2. New super efficient toilets have been developed to use about 2 gallons now, but new super efficient urinals have been developed to use only 10 ounces. There are also waterless versions of urinals and it seems there will never be such a thing with toilets, and their design allows a greater number of fixtures to be installed in the same space. It not only makes no sense to remove them, it should be LAW that every residential dwelling should have one to help delay the imminent water crisis.
perhaps it wouldnt be your methodology, but my first yera of univeristy a woman was raped, in a bathroom, on campus. a womens bathroom, and she ended up with her arm broken from teh rape being so violent anyway, i dont really care as long as i dont have to see random schlongs or deal with urine on the seat or unflushed toilets
Bumble- males that are rapists can be anywhere anytime wanting to rape ... In saying this they can walk into a womans washroom as well and rape a woman. How safe is anything anymore? BUT how often does a female rape? Look at the teachers raping their male students anyways
I think you're talking about two different kinds of rape there. I agree with Bumble, I would be afraid of getting attacked in a gender neutral restroom because it is secluded. If that wasn't the case, I'd be for it. But thats reality. I mean men and women have their different personal things they do in the bathroom anyway. Maybe you're right that it would make for more equality but I don't know about that. I totally agree though with PriceCheck though in that girls aren't supposed to actually pee, poop, fart, or whatever haha. Its pretty much bullshit and I will tell someone I gotta do what I gotta do, I don't care because I am a human!
