does anybody find that doing acid can cause severe mememory problems. as well as dranatically affecting your mental memory map, or for example, streets and your direction around town. not to mention concentration.

i think in a way acid leaves you in the trip. and ofcourse it does. u take acid and while the hallucinations or whatever stop, for the next few months or forever who knows, your in this state of mind which is differnt, its affected, and iv seen myself and others go into this state of mind ofcourse.

this state of mind is really just any change you make after acid. buts its a lingering trip in a way.

i guess if you do to much acid, it deffinatly does those things to your memory and cognitive brain...

i remember i was at a point where my concentration was soo bad from acid, that people would talk to me, and i would nod and stuff, and if they said more than a couple words, i would have no idea what they were talking about... i would have to apologise or just nod. it was pretty scary. and im not a pot smoker or anything.

acid can do some crazy stuff.

  2. It's funny, today I was going to make a thread about LSD and long-term memory. Ever since my last trip I have been having unbelievable crystal clear memories of my child hood, my neighborhood, the people, the houses, rooms, everything, it's been pretty surreal. I'll just all of a sudden get a big picture in my head of my entire past and be like 'wow'...And these are memories that were very faded prior to LSD.

As with short-term memory, it's somewhat another story. I do smoke pot though, but being a user of both, I certainly don't think LSD can damage memory like pot can.

How many times have you dropped?

It doesn't matter how many times you dose

it matters how often you dose.

A girlfriend I had a few years ago made a very big deal out of the fact that even though I have done more acid than anyone she's ever known and I smoke weed every day I still have a better memory than anyone she's ever known. This girl who has done very little drugs in her life has a horrible memory at age 20 and I, who have done many drugs over the last 10 years have an excellent memory at 29.

At my current place of employment I do an exceptional job. I am very good at my job as I retain information very well and I communicate that information just as well. If anyone is having difficulty remembering the steps to follow when performing a task they come to me for assistance. If I've dealt with this issue before I can show them the document to help them when most others would have no idea what to do or where to look for the solution. Of course, I'm not open about my drug use and no one would ever imagine that I would be someone who smokes weed every day and trips out on acid once in a while. Actually there is very good reason to believe that my drug use has made it possible for me to excel in the workplace.

I guess what I'm trying to say Peter is that once again you are mistaken to blame lsd when it is your own fault. You keep doing this over and over again, you come online trying to blame lsd for your misfortunes yet you have done so many other drugs as well, so there is really no way to tell whether it is any one of the drugs, a combination of the drugs or if it has anything to do with the drugs at all. Throughout my life I've experimented with many different drugs and most of them I explored in excess at one point or another and my memory is still impeccable.

It's like Peter has made it his mission to scare people away from lsd. I would like to warn anyone who might think it wise to listen to someone who thinks that LSD is just a drug to get high or fucked up on with little or no spiritual or psychological benefit. Not only can Peter never seem to make up his mind on whether he likes lsd are not, he continues to disrespect the drug and those who swear by it when he suggests that it will fuck you up or drive you crazy and he looks forward to being a police officer one day. I wonder if there is a connection?

No one who plans on joining the force is going to have a good trip when they take lsd. This is a police force that is supposed to keep drugs like this off the street or they apply a black-market tax to the drugs they were supposed to be taking off the street. I guess what I'm trying to say is that cops or wannabe cops should not experiment with lsd as they are in for one hell of a ride and no one should assume that the experience of such an individual is any indication of what kind of trip you should expect.
Now if Peter was on this site looking for answers or help from more experienced trippers I would have no problem with him but that is not why he is here. It is very obvious that he is here to speak his mind stubbornly trying to suggest that LSD is bad for everyone. Every possible angle that he can think of he brings up.

Peter, if lsd has fucked you up as much as you suggest that it has, why don't you ask for help? You don't listen to us and we sure have done our best to help enlighten you. Maybe you should consider a psychiatrist as I have a very good feeling that you and a psychiatrist would see eye to eye when it comes to lsd. (Never would I suggest that anyone go see a psychiatrist about their LSD use, the only reason I do this here is to prove a point!)

When I'm on LSD all of my abilities are enhanced so when my trip lingers I'm thankful for the extended time that I have to apply the superhuman capabilities made possible by the lsd into my normal way of life. Of course I am not able to bring everything from a psychedelic trip back into everyday life but with each trip I come out a better person in some way! Like so many have said before me, LSD is in many ways subjective and just because some people are not capable of enjoying or utilizing lsd in a positive and productive manner does not mean that LSD is bad for everyone.

It's actually very possible for you to improve your memory and your cognitive thought process with the use of psychedelic drugs! Or if you feel like being self-destructive and using LSD to get fucked up on while you piss off your family, I'm sure it will help you become an irresponsible dumbass while it fucks you up.

Funny how it is easier for you to assume that I'm lying than to clue in to the obvious. Maybe I should've spelled it out for you but I didn't imagine that anyone would assume I was lying when I have not given anyone any reason to think that I'm anything but honest. I started off my post saying "a girlfriend I had a few years ago" so when I mentioned our age in the same paragraph about the same situation I didn't realize that I should mention that 29 was my age 3 years ago. It should've been easy enough to put two and two together and to assume that someone is lying when they are being honest says a lot about the accuser.

3xi, it's because you used the word 'have' in referece to your age, which denotes current posession, rather than 'had', which is used for the past.
I understood it but not everyone is as smart as me :D

hahahahahahahahahahhahahaha thats funny. Peter Popper, maybe you had some kind of memory and attention problem before you tripped and you are just blaming it on that? I dont know, it is just an idea, obviously i dont know you, and I dont mean to insult you by the way...

How often have you done it? was it real lsd? just think about those sorta things... also, ya know, maybe it has a different affect on different people... i dont know i have only done mushrooms and i can say that even though i couldnt really remember the day which i did them, if anything, it helped my memory afterwards. I know I wasnt such an idiot when i smoked pot after i did mushrooms...

My relationship with drugs and memory is really pecuilar. I do 3D modelling and rendering for a living, it's been my hobby since I was 12. And, albeit I've managed to forget my name, forget how to speak english, forget how to write, forget where I am. I can still operate the computer programs for my job without the slightest problem, on any drug. And the programs are quite complex, 100's of commands and variables.

At one point in my life I honestly TRIED to remove my knowledge about 3D from my brain, I was in a self-destructive mode trying to get out of my current situation. But, to no avail. The information is untouchable in my brain. I get tripping balls enough, and I see everything in wireframe like a 3D application, I simply cannot escape it. No drug has managed to touch it at all, they seem to only add to my comprehension of it.

So I can honestly say with quite a bit of sincerity, it only removes what you don't truly care about.

I mean, theres been times in this past year where I was just so not in sync with typical ways that when greeting people and they would ask "and whats your name"... I would honestly have to stop and think about it for like 5 seconds for this name thing to register, then remember my name. So ya I have done quite a number to the memory section at times, but for whatever reason, knowledge of 3D computer graphics is just, hardwired permanent.

I can say that I feel quite oposite then Peter, and acid did not only inhance my memory and thinking, but every time I come down from acid trip, my whole body feels refreshed and clensed. I literaly feel that all the things that need to come out of the body just left the body and all the worries and "bad" thoughts are completely removed, leaving me with clear mind and stronger and healtier body to go through life with the smile on my face. I always say, and I strongly belive in that, that you will feel dark side of psychedelics only if you have dark side of you. All what you think and feel is enhanced dramaticaly and if you think of yourself as a dumb ass, acid will help you make you first class dumb ass, but if you are happy with what you are, acid will help you be even better than you thought is possible.
    Peace and Love!

you are experiencing a common condition often simply referred to as "burnt out". Too much drug use, and apparently too much stress and weird/paranoid beliefs on top of it. A long period off drugs would do you some good if you actually want some improvement in your life.

Pete, acid didn't hurt your brain, I give you my word.

Please don't take offense by the comments to this post, believe it or not everyone has had somthing pretty poignient to say.
I would highly suggest that you lay off of all drugs for a bit, and I gaurntee that you will feel much better about things.

It is all based upon your perception- if you think it it will be.

LSD has a tendency to give you exactly what you're looking for.

yeah. i dont think i was a dumbass. in high school, i did biology and maths b, chemistry and blah blah. last year i went to university for a year, doing a bachelor of criminal justice. i hit the acid in march of the year, and discovered university wasnt what i wanted to do. so i hit the drugs more, till i fucked up last year at uni, and now this year, im at tafe (collage) doing a justice administaation course. which will allow me to follow my life long dream. like my girlfriend says, how many people get to fullfil their lifelong dream. . i will. i want to be a cop. since i was a little kid. and aint nothin stop that, not drugs not you, not nodody. im pretty hi and drunk right now my girlfriend is asleep. but i managed to type good shit.

well in the year i did pills maybe 8 in a weekend somtimes. did them just about almost every weekend most was 5.5 in a nigjt.. i did acid, most was 12 hits in a 2 weeks or s1.5 weeks or somthing. ummm i did i know how much acid. but the trips were insane. i went a bit psychotic after christmas. had some voices. so stoped the drugs, met this girl , and have done acid once in the last 7 months... so yeah, im mostly normal i dont know. wont ever return to 'normal'.
i allways strived to trip. to discover. about me, about the world, about the unknown,
when i did drugs i wanted to trip. thats why i took drugs.
i also took drugs to change who i was, i never knew who i was and i didnt know and took acid. i thought acid was helping me figure out who i was and it did. i did to much, and thought i was soo many people. i heard voices in my head askign me who i was. i thought this was strange so i stoped acid. i have stopped acid. i have worked out alot about me. im quite sane.
so i never took acid just to get fucked up. well maybe it got a bit weird once/

I still think, acid can leave you feeling detached and distant, and thinkin about other things instead of focusing on whats happening right now in reality. This leaves you distant and forgetfull. Its deffinaly a signifivant thing to do to yourself. Whatever you believe it, acid does wild things to you.

I did acid, often, the entire time I was in college and it had no noticeable negative effects on my memory or grades, as I had no trouble getting a degree.

Peter...you were going nuts, doing WAY too many drugs just 9 months ago. Tripping to hard, and too often, and refusing to listen to our advice. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Peter - don't listen to people who say that any drug is harmless. That is just what they tell themselves so that they can feel secure in what they are doing.

I do agree with some of the posters though that I think your issues are related much more to your general mindset than to the drugs themselves. I experienced memory loss when I went on a year-long weed binge, but I don't think it was that I lost the ability to remember, I just stopped caring. I was so stoned and depressed that I didn't care.

A lot of us have gone through the identity crisis thing. I applaud you for making it out on the other end! :) Some people don't, but those that do are usually a lot stronger. You're doing to be just fine. All you need to do now is not repeat past behaviors, and that probably includes drug abuse. If you keep doing what you did, you're going to get the same results. Keep developing as a person and put your time and energy into things you believe in and I think you'll see that brain power start to come back :)

    good advise.

i did acid not last night but the night before. and i can safely say it was the shittest trip iv had.

i was soo out of it and anyway there was some sort of fight and trouble happening between my girlfriend and one of my friends.
then the fuckhead said some shit about me and how her boyfriend (me) is crazy and blah blah. and anyway, ofcourse somwhere there that feeling slowly grows over you, from being happy and in the moment and talkin to people, to your consciousness being ripped away, and things become distant, and you become quiet and unable to talk, you start to shake. you become so distant that i no longer knew who my girlfriend was when we went to sit in the car. she was a stranger. i couldnt talk barely just fear. \
anyway, once your mind goes into that profound outer distant consciosness, it goes thro a hole, that doesnt come back to normal ever. your consciossness gets skewed down a tangent, and you come out of it with a much more differnt perspective, than if you had a good trip.

the harder and more frightfull the trip, the more your perspective will change, and the more you will gain from a trip.

so anyway, i lost a friend, and probaly a girlfriend the other night. she never cheated or nothing, but she was disrespectfull to me, and to my friends. it surprisign even to me. she went round the twist, i was insane, and it was just fucked. so fuck em all off, and keep to my diploma, and be a cop, and live my life.

strong hits which my friend obtained from a doof down in New South Wales, on sugar cubes.
