Sgt Pepper or the dark side of the moon?

In your opinion which of these two albums, Sgt Pepper's lonely hearts (the Beatles) or dark side of the moon (pink Floyd) is most well known.

I am a huge fan of both bands and I have a copy of each but have often heard people arguing over which is more well known.
What's your opinion?

I was going to say that lol I have listened to the dark side of the moon so many times that its cool to listen to this alot now and my favorite is the dark side of the moon.

 

Most well known? I would say it is definitely the "Dark Side of the Moon." I am going by how many times I have heard references to that album and how many times I have seen the logo floating about in stores and elsewhere. "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" is also an excellent album, and it is too bad nobody mentions it more often.

 

Dark Side of the Moon could eat Sgt. Pepper's

I would say DSOTM is more well known...as far a which is better...hey, i love both albums, but I'm a HUGE Floyd fan so I'll go with them. Mind you that I also love the Beatles...

It's hard to say, really...they are both AMAZING in two totally different ways!!

 

Hard to say...

I think as far as concept albums go, DSOTM is much more consistent with its dark themes (the dark side of money, death, war, insanity, etc. are taken up here); whereas Sgt. Pepper's was originally supposed to be about a concert of a fictional band named Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, but stops being consistent to its theme after the second song (With A Little Help From My Friends).

But I like both of them. It really depends on my mood, I guess. If I want something light and cheerful, I listen to Sgt. Pepper's. If I want dark and heavy, I listen to DSOTM.

 

No contest. Sgt. Peppers is the more well known album. Everyone and their mother is a Beatles fan.

Not to mention the nod it got from Rolling Stone. #1 of 500 in a major media source. Bringing the Beatles back into the mainstream.

 

Luckily the question was whats the most well known,for a second when i read the title of this thread i thought "shit i can't believe i'll need to decide between the two albums i love" lol
But anyway,in my opinion,the most famous is definitely the dark side of the moon. many people never heard about sgt peppers but everybody had listened something about this floyd album.

People haven't heard about Sgt. Peppers? Next you'll be telling me that you have no idea who is behind the white album.

 

Come on, you dont need to talk as i was the kind of person who just listen twist and shout and then say that love the beatles. This is my favorite band.

And if i'm saying that theres people who had never listened about sgt peppers,its because i know this persons! Of course its a famous album,and MANY people knows it,but in MY opinion,its not as well known as the dark side of the moon,and thats all. If you still think that everybody in the earth knows it,i can't so nothing,maybe you should travel more outside your country.

While I think Darkside is the betterand more accomplished album, Sgt Peppers was definitly a much more revolutionary album for it's time

 

I definatly say Sgt Peppers it is not over played on the radio everyday and has a more original better sound while i am a huge pink floyd fan i would say animals would be a much much better match for Sgt Peppers (i am wearing a tie dye dsotm shirt lol)

I have been listenig to bike by pink floyd-good song! Me and my friend have been singing it in English.....our teacher wasn't too happy! lol

Anyway, I just wanted to say thanx guys for all your posts. I've got a good perspective on it....I still can't decide which I like the most because they're both fantastic but judging from your replies I think the dark side of the moon is more well known. Even if seargant pepper was more revolutionary for it's time.
So now I have to go and play them both! Two fab albums! I could never choose between them.

I guess I would go with...sgt peppers, prolly cause it has a big influence on many people, but so does dark side. Actually, Im going with Dark Side. Its probably better to relax to.
