Ok, this always happens to me. Is it a genetic thing? Like because I'm female?? *sigh* It's been a long week, and it's only wednesday. So I decided to reward myself by walking to the mall to mail a letter and buy a new mascara. Ok, fifty bucks later people, I have mascara, nail polish, blush, toner, and eye makeup remover. First of all, I paid WAY too much for these items. Second, that's not what I went to do. To make it worse, I forgot my other errand, which was to get my eyebrows waxed. *growly face* Does this happen to anyone else? I can't be the only one out there, especially in the world of womyn, who needs their card taken away for EVER....
someone need to take my cards away. The problem is that you can cut them up but than you just go into the store and they put it on your account using your drivers license number. So even if you cut the damn thing up you can still use it. I went in a few weeks ago for jeans and came out with a million tank tank tops but no jeans ):
uhh i guess that happens to me but not really in the make-up or clothing departments. i go into osco to get my prescription filled and end up buying stupid things like q-tips and air freshners for my car.. haha..
I have found that it is much easier to control, if I take a list. Then I can just make myself stick to the list. And no, it isn't just women... When my boyfriend goes to Home Depot, it's the same thing... Now, this lack of control should not be confused with Retail Therapy. That is where we buy things, because we are feeling sad or something. That is different and can even be beneficial, if used properly.
ooooh man Im the WORST for shopping... I spend waaaaaaaaaaay too much on clothes and beauty products..... my 2 addictions.... oh dear.
For a while I was being good, just using cash and leaving the cards at home. So if I didn't have enough cash (or I ran out) then I was done, bye bye mall. But today was sort of a spur of the moment thing, so I didn't think it through. Salespeople are just too good sometimes. They see you looking at shirt and they say "hey go try that on... here try these 80 dollar pants, too, they look great together" and while they're usually right, they neglect to tell you that you don't really NEED the 80 dollar pants... *sigh* and yah, i gotta go back and get my eyebrows waxed tomorrow, which means back to the mall! eek! So here's my plan: I'm taking out exactly 10 bucks for eyebrow waxing, and that's the only store I'm going to. I'm not taking any cards or anything.... I'm so glad I'm not alone. Wiccan Witch, what's your fave beauty product to splurge on? With me it's nail polish, hands down, every time.
Haha I have alot of nailpolish too..but its all 99cent kind. I dont know, I'm a real tightwad when it comes to make up! Well, I dont have a 'card' yet nor do I really plan to get one anytime soon, and maybe I just dont really have any money to begin with! But I really DO need some more make up cuz myne is all gross now!
I'm pretty good about sticking to what my original shopping plan is, because although I LOVE shopping, I HATE spending money. I'm frugal, but I could easily go overboard because shopping is like therapy for me . I especially love shopping for my kids. I'd rather get for them than myself. What actually stopped me from going overboard and not thinking twice about what I spent on something was when I became a stay-at-home mama and knew that I couldn't go blowing money like I used to BK (before kids) Now I'm so tight that it kills me to spend money. My husband is more of the spender, but he always asks me before he buys something bigger. It's pretty nice to have your man ask for permission before buying something even though he is the one who brings home the money, I must admit. I think that even if I had loads of moolah, I'd still be a tight-wad. I'm just like my father. I'd rather be like him than my mother, as she's always in financial ruins because she spends her paycheck before she gets it. Heck, she just borrowed money from us a week ago because she was going to get kicked out of her home and her car was going to be repossessed. Anyway, I usually don't get more than I intially set out for while shopping. I have a list and I normally stick to it. Much peace.
*raises hand* I'm gulity! Only it's not really clothes or makeup or anything... It's music stuff that kills me. For instance, I walked into a music store, my favorite one, and I was going to buy 2 REEDS. ONLY 2! I needed a speical thickness for a certain style I was playing on sax... And stupid me didnt' feel like counting out $15 from my wad of bills so I just took the whole damn thing along... and it was about $85... And I came back with 11 cents and pretty long reciept. I didn't buy anything big... but I bought TONS of small things. 2 extra boxes of reeds (This happened 7 months ago and I still havent used them all up) a complete set of GOOD bass strings, 3 strings for my acoustic, drumsticks (4 pairs to be exact) 50 guitar/bass picks, a new sax neckstrap (it was purple... I couldn't resist!), a cleaning ma-bob (I call them shove-it's... dont know waht the rest of universe calls them) for my alto sax, and a cleaning kit for my tenor. And to top it all off, a fender shirt. They were having a blowout sale and I was one of their preferred customers... So damn... I didn't know about the sale and I jsut showed up. I have a tendency of doing that, it seems... But it's only with music stores. (That includes record stores! WHOO!) I can NEVER hit sales for clothes stores... But yes... you're going into dangerous territory when you let me loose in a music store with cash... Never be certain I'll come back alive, becuase in about 3 hours you may find me crouched in the corner playing a bass I'll never be able to afford... :& It's a curse!
Oh I'm jumping on this band wagon. I'm sooooo bad, especially with clothes (pretty tops and skirts are my downfall) and shoes - we have this shoe shop where you can get kick ass shoes (fake ones, so no animal leather ) for about $15 - i always spend way too much $$$$ on them. yes, i'm addicted, but it's so hard to stop.
<major snippage> ROTFLMAO!!! flowerchild... I used to live with a boyfriend just like you... I had to take all of his money away, when we were going to the music store. And if he was going alone (Goddess forbid!), I had to make sure he only had as much cash as he could spend and did not have my debit card in his possession.... LOL
Atleast they buy stuff thats practical... i know SO many people who spend almost $100 on food for them selves, not grocery food other wise i wouldnt go off at them for wasting there money, i mean like cant be botherd going home 4 tea so go and buy it, or just buy alcohol and pay rent and dont buy food for their Pad at all. those kind of people crack me up.
The only place I go shopping is at the grocery store, really. But, if I don't make a list, I will buy a bunch of crap!! And forget the milk or toilet paper. Once, I went to Wal-mart to buy a rake...I spent $80. I would always look at the clearance items in each department and justify buying it because it was on sale! But, all lot of things on sale add up pretty quickly!
I am guilty. First, it was clothes, then after I have all the clothes that I need, I switch to make up, after I'm done with the make up, then I move on to skin care products.. When I moved houses, it was furniture. I will always find something that I 'need' to buy. Its scary although I am not in debt.
Ohh yes, I so know what you all are talking about. *sigh* I spend way too much money on clothes, books and CD's. Especially on clothes. I looooove shopping. I can't help it. :S
