Personally, I hate school and the sooner I get out the better. It just seems like a huge waste of time to waste away in a classroom studying stuff like chemistry which I'm 99,99% sure I'll never use in my life. My parents are sending me to one of the most conservative schools in the area and I absolutely hate it! I can feel how it's bringing me down and I need to get out!

I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't just drop out when I'm 16 and just use the money I've saved up to walk around the u.s. and live on the street. Hopfully start some sort of mobil revolutionary group with anyone who is interested.

Right now I'm completely 50|50 on this and I need help deciding what's the right path. On one side I know that past revolutionaries have all had some sort of education and that the whole point of being a succesfull one is to beat the 'system' but then on the other side why sit around studying something I have no use of when I could be getting a head start and being one step closer to freedom. And arn't we at a point nowadays when we can learn basically everything we need to know from the internet?

Anyway, if any1 has some insight, I would greatly appreciate it.

    1. if you really don't like the school your parents are sending you to, ask to go to the local public school, might not learn as much, but less strict and you'll probably have more fun.

2.Everyone at 14 wants to drop out of school.

    3. In case you come back in 2 or 3 years and read this, the answer should be NO, if you want any kind of job these days, you need a high school diploma or something of equal value.

Well in France you graduate at age 16 right and then you get the choice of going to college or not?

I'd say just try your hardest to get through it and then you'll be done/with that paper for the rest of your life.

I'm not sure there is anything better to be doing at your age...you'll have plenty of time to drift wherever you want to, no need to be in too much of a rush.

Stick with the school. Who knows, things may change and you may actually enjoy a class down the road and be glad that you stayed. Graduating from high school is a foundation educational experience that I think everyone should go through. Just because you don't think what you are learning will be usefull to you presently, it could come in very handy down the road. By, the way, I think things would be much easier for you in the US if you have a high school diploma, wether you plan to roam around and not positively contribute to society or not.

I'd say no, i know how u feel because i really want to drop out, but i know that i wont be getting anywhere if i dont finish school, a couple people i know have dropped out and are living on the street, my friend lives in a tent by the railway tracks, i think that living on the streets would be tougher than school, but thats just my opinion. Most people eventually go back to school, or wish that they did, every person i've talked to that has dropped out said that they wish they stayed in school.

Everyone says that shit at 14. I was going to drop out, use my birthday money and live on the street in Los Angeles. Then eventually I was going to get famous somehow. Trust me, school is important. Once you're in college, you'll not only be learning interesting stuff but you'll meet enough people that any kind of experience you want will be open to you. One of my main regrets in life is wasting a lot of high school bitching about how I was going to drop out.. now I wish I had actually worked harder and I'd be at a better college.

i know exactly how you feel as i've thought about dropping the school thing many times and i actually did drop out for a year until i decided to go back mostly because i had fuck all to do and i didn't have any solid plans back then.i'm actually gonna support you on the drop out idea if thats what you want to do but before you decide to drop out though make sure your doing it for the right reasons and not just because someones getting on your nerves at school or you hate getting up to go everyday.

since i've been in the same predicament as you i realize that your main motive to drop out is probabley because you feel as though your wasting your time going to class everyday and earning credits just so that you can get a government certified piece of paper that says your now of importance to society.this is perfectly understandable as many of the older visionaries or counterculture figures dropped out for this very reason to pursue a life of more importance and meaning than earning money and buying fancy cars.

so basically i totally see where your coming from with this and i would say take the plunge if you know what you wanna do and have a solid basis on what your trying to accomplish.

ps:i also agree with your statement about learning off the internet as i've learnt many great things such as scripting where as in school all i've learnt so far hasn't been of much relevence to me and most likely never will be.

the hard thing was the jobs I dropped out when I was 17 - spent a few years wondering around - it had its good points - but - the only kind I could get was labor - All work has value - but when you work so hard that all you do is work - clean up - eat -sleep - go back to work - it gets very old very quick no energy to read or think or talk to folks - after a few years I got my GED and went to collage - got a nursing degree - felt good about what I was doing and got to help some people - also had time and money for friends, books, music - it is hard to do school is the training camp for the state and we all know it sucks bad - but stay with it - try to change things just a little while your there - even if you only change one person a little you have done a bit to blow against the empire - good luck and may The flying spaghetti monster be with you.

Thanx for all the input. I guess I do have time to think about it but so far nothing's changed.
And in France you actually graduate when your 18 but the 11th and 12th are a lot like college from what I've gathered. But I go to an international school so it's a lot more like an American high school.

All of the real forefathers of the hippie movement and leaders of cultural revolution and change all had college degrees. Allen Ginsberg, Tim Leary, Abbie Hoffman.. keep that in mind. You can't change a world you don't know shit about.

Living on the streets is real romantic as an idea... but it sucks.

Suck it up and go to school, just don't let it rule your life.

Drop out-Turn On and Tune in Bro! You can always go back to school if you want too.
Back pack thru Europe .... But be Careful. BTW Your right-pretty much anything they will try and jam down your throat is useless-but read and then read some more and then Experience. Most of all the needed Knowledge is gained thru Experience. Tell your teachers to go Fuck OFF! Ask them why they do not teach the correct history of THE AMERICAS- why they try and make us really believe some guy discovered America...when there were peopleliving here already? Go make your own History! Be Safe..The Wiz
