iv had dreads for about 4 maybe 5 months now and i kno dreads get messy seeming as i only use sea salt, pure lemon, tea tree oil , bicarb soda and cider vinegar on my hair. no wax or anything. well my front dreads have messed up alot more than normal...they have lots of normal loose hairs running dwn them and i mean alot so wondering if i should giv them a little back comb? ther was a rly bad 1 at the back though and i backcombed half of it then stopped and the part i backcombed isnt going too well but the part i left is knotting up fine hehe

Well, asking this, everybody is probably going to tell you to just leave'em go. i've learned to not worry about them and do just that. In most cases, it's probably the best information.

A lot of people say overcombing can actually mess them up. I've only had my dreads for 8 days now, so I can't really offer any advice. Did you backcomb yours when you started them? They look great. I have a bad feeling that mine are going to turn out horrible.

no don't backcomb. whne you first backcomb the dreads are loose. so all rebackcombing is ganna do is make it loose again. i rebackcombed my hair and it didn't do anything to help. just let them do their thing

hey, figroti, don't sweat it, man. like you said to me,"we're in this together." just remember, all dreads are unique. there is no such thing as a bad set of locks. and if people are going to be judgemental about you becasue your locks arn't "perfect" then give them the finger. haha.

Do you mean loose hair at the roots? Try "crocheting" them. Gather the loose hair around each dread ~ twist them up into a knot~ then weave them in and out of the root. Never re-backcomb them from the roots!!! Stop worrying so much, they're looking fine for 5 months :)

mine are loss and lots of los hair, itl be fine, tho i needa croche them, also i dono if this helps but i play with bad ones, rub them... twist them, stratch them (not back comb as such) with one in class and they seem to improve, is this sensible?
