I've known for a while... since like 7th grade... told a few people and they told people, but then in 10th grade i dated this guy for 2 years now we're broken up because i didnt like him but im wondering when/if i should change my facebook info to say "women" under interests. i never answered it, its just blank right now. i could always leave it blank, but i feel like it would be a really big step for me to change it. but a lot of people dont know and im not sure i want everyone to know.

If you really have to ask this, I'd say you need better friends

Neither do I, except in the case of political aspirations, wanting to foment a change in public policy. But in many cases, when people begin to go public, it has the opposite effect on the community. Rather than causing them to re-think their position, it causes some to become more polarized.

But I think it's a private matter. To each his/her own.

I know a lot of lesbians that don't identify their sexuality on social networks. Not necessarily because they are afraid of what people will think, but on myspace if your profile isn't private, if you list yourself as lesbian, you will be surprised how many requests from random strangers and stuff you get. I personally have my myspace and facebook listed as lesbian. But it doesn't make you a "shameful" lesbian to not list it haha!
