Im looking for more music in this genre. I can really only think of a couple right now that I really love and that is tool and deftones. so let me know what bands you guys listen to that do this kinda stuff. thanks guys. im set on other genres for now.
Dan Deacon. Although he's not exactly rock. In fact he's not exactly anything but strangely beautiful. And cant forget Black Moth Super Rainbow. They pretty much define psychedelia. :cheers2:
wow thanks a lot guys. gotta leave the computer on tonight. and ive been meaning for so long to check out modest mouse but always forget the name when i get home. thanks guys.
how the hell are the deftones psychedelic? lol i suppose you could say change (house of flies) and digital bath might be mildly psychedelic if you're tripping but they'd give a person one hell of a bad trip heh
Old Deftones is a little trippy. What are these Modest Mouse songs that are supposed to be psychedelic? I've only heard maybe 3 of their songs.
well im talking about like modern rock with a bit of a psychedelic twist. and what i was trying to say at the beginning was that those were my limited choices in my music library and i wanted to add some. and i think the whole white pony album is actually pretty damn trippy. the songs flow on the album right, theres a couple of long build-up songs, strange noises. and the best part, it all goes together well. not quite the same calibur as tool, but im not always in the mood for the same band, even if im in the mood for the same genre.
:cheers2: x2 Edit: OP i definitely suggest The Mars Volta's CD De-Loused in the Comatorium. all the songs "flow" together and there's a lot of strange noises.
I would never classify Tool and Deftones as psychedelic rock. Some of their songs are about psychedelia, but as bands, their genre is definetely more mainstream rock although I could see Tool being stretched to Progressive Rock. Both are the shit though . In terms of true "psychedelic rock", there are very few bands. Jefferson Airplane. The 13th Floor Elevators. If you just meant "bands that are good to trip to", then we're talking about much more good stuff, like BlackMothSuperRainbow, Godspeed! You Black Emperor, King Crimson, YES, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Ween, Neil Young, Rush, Ozric Tentacles, Shpongle, Entheogenic, Hallucinogenic, Infected Mushroom, Marillion, Led Zepellin, Grateful Dead, Electric Light Orchestra D stfu it is impossible to have a bad trip listening to them!) . . . check out the Music section of hipforums, and dip into some genres.
i guess what i meant to say was i was lookin for some modern rock, that would have a little psychedelic hint, but is still modern rock.
