why is this guy so popular? you have all these teenagers who are making him their idol and role model. why? he couldnt play his instrument, they unplugged it during concerts. the only reason he got in the band was his image. he was a murderer and a would bash fans heads open with his bass. could someone who likes this guy please give me just one reason. cause i see him as being a waste of life
i completely agree with you. i have a mate who's a complete punk, into the jam, the clash, sex pistols, etc. and he idolises sid vicious, just for doing the amount of shit he did and still pulling stuff off, and the anti-society views he carried. i think it's the sense of anarchy and anti-politics that attracts them. the whole "do what you want and don't give a fuck" image as opposed to the actual music he made (of course, they're gonna like that too.)
Ignorance is probably the reason that people like him so much. Most people see him as the "cute one" in the band, so that's why people look upto him so much. But I can't see why people "idolize" him anyway. How the hell is it cool to be a skinny, ugly, untalented druggie? The Sex Pistols in general were as manufactured as the Backstreet Boys when you read into it more, and they only had one album.
im not against punks or anything, i love the clash, but couldnt they find a better hero? i mean jim morrison was an anarchist and had that "i dont give a fuck" attitude. but at least he was a talented poet, and a talented vocalist. plus his band diddnt break up after 1 album and 1 1/2 years of playing. and he diddnt break open his fans heads.
I like him. I like the Sex Pistols, rather. They had great music (Though, that is only MY opinion). Why do people who like him OR Sex Pistols have to give you reason? He wasn't a waste of life.... Some people would argue that Jim Morrison wasn't all that talented. But, because YOU like him, YOU idolize him. Same thing for people who 'idolize' Sid Vicious. I still can't, for the life of me, think of ANY reason Jim Morrison is always thrown up in arguments of just how 'shitty' other artists are. He was great, yes, and The Doors are my favorite band, but HE is kind of overrated. The band made the music, not just Jim.
