Nothing to do with the topic, but you brought up a memory from my old house when I was younger. I found this sticker at some store and it said "We have___pets and___childern in the house. Please save the pets before the children."
OMG, you are kidding. Pets before kids? Sad. I had a freind who insisted her mother loved their dogs more than she or her brother, and it appeared true. Sad. As for PETA, they have a right to exist. I did like their "Milk Sucks" thing. (Hyperallergic AND lactose intolerant, so I liked it.) And I do agree that in many cases, euthenasia is the best course, but, some of the other things are different. I'm not a veg*n anymore, (but one of my kids is) but I was in the days of "food combining" (gotta have milk with that peanut butter sammich, or beans with that rice, well that doesn't sound bad, actually, I love beans and rice.) before there was a PETA I knew about. I'd never wear fur, still, blech, but even when I was a veg, I never dissed others for what they ate (I made a few "mmm, dead cow" comments to my dad, the original "Atkin's Diet" follower.) I have mixed feelings about PETA. So many people are so polarized by them. I think that may be part of their strategy, which I am not fond of. (Am I making sense?) Dalamar, I think we are saying the same thing, really. My FIL and my cousins did say they certainly WOULD grab them, no one likes to see a pet die. They just always saved the people first and would not go back into an inferno for a pet or belonging. As someone else said, they have familes, too.
