Ok so I'm new to body modification. I've been doing some looking around and reading and I have decided to do a very simply brand. I want to do a small triangle, probably 3/4 to 1 inch on each side. I'm not completely sure on the placement, probably on my torso or near/on my foot.

Obviously there is alot of information to understand to get things just right. When healed I'd like the scar to look like this:

So can you give me some tips and such. I have 17 guage aluminum wire on hand (I make chainmaille, so I also have 16g galvinized steel but that's quite dangerous to heat... zinc poisoning = bad). I've done some experimenting and the pain doesn't seem like an issue. I enjoy it to be honest.

I'd just like to know how hot to get the wire, how hard to press, and aftercare to achieve the desired effect. I've heard everything from leaving it alone to covering it in saran wrap to spreading vaseline over it.

    Thanks in advance :D

Ok well I hadn't anticipated the lifelessness of this board. No worries though.

I went ahead and did it. With a metal ankh symbol I got from a store.

I used a bernzomatic propane torch to heat the symbol, holding it with a pair of pliers. I did my best to heat it evenly.

I then placed it on a wash cloth, waited for it to cool down a bit (hindsight this was a mistake, a mistake that means the brand won't be very permanent, but oh well... It intimidated me - I tried a drop of water on the metal and it instantly vaporized)

Anyway so I pressed it into my skin and endured the pain... I ended up with a perfectly shaped, raised white ankh in my flesh. It was beautiful already. I went to bed and the next morning it was blistering (this morning).

I proceded to drain the blisters with a needle, and the took a shower. I scrubbed off all the outside skin and was left with a slightly indented red ankh (still perfectly shaped).

All throughout today I've rinsed it in water, (scrubbing in between all steps) then hydrogen peroxide, then a sea salt solution, then a little more peroxide. Finally spraying it with bactine, letting that dry, then covering it with a thin layer of vaseline and plastic wrap (and now a big bandade, does the same job just better, still taped too so no air gets in).

So far it's doing well. It hasn't started to scab yet, which I believe was the desired affect of the vaseline. I'm irritating the burn and such, pulling at the edges and all that. I know this brand won't have the permanence I desire, but it will do for now. I'm going to treat it as though it will be permenant, and if I'm lucky I may end up with a very light scar that I can rescar later.

So yeah, thanks for your help... and such...

Well, on weekends people are out partying or going apeshit somewhere. Sorry that no one helpful responded but it looks like you have your shit locked tight anyways.

Well thankyou ;). I feel like I did a good job. I take pride in researching things before I go into it.

Still, information on anything further that I didn't cover would be appreciated.
