continuous action, brilliant filmiing, multiple plots which arent confusing, perfect actors for each role. I thought it would be rubbish because of the colour, but i think if it was in full colour there wouldn't be the same impact in shootings, fights etc.
I agree with you on every point. You forgot to mention the girls, however. They were... what's the word I'm looking for?...
I hated that movie. It was the same basic plot repeated five or six times. Tough guys do something bad- Loner on the edge of society takes the law into his own hands- Insane revenge plot- An impossible killing spree ensues by the loner- Loner almost dies- Loner returns to situation with renewed zest- Loner murders a bunch of people and nearly accomplishes his task- Loner is then approached and stopped by powerful, corrupt guy- Powerful corrupt deal makes awful threat- Loner realizes threat is great, and decides to take the fall for the initial wrongdoing and ends up framed and no one believes him- Loner either dies or rots in prison, with a snappy comeback to sum up his dismal situation
I think hot as fuck is the word. I love that movie so much. The fight scenes were awesome and ohhhh the gore. Beautiful. I agree about the comment about if it wasnt in black and white. Mickey Rourke is such a good actor.
Sin City is awesome, indeed. It's a very amusing movie, never boring. And the use of colours is amazing. The black, white and some other colours..really well done. Like the blue eyes from Alex Bledel in contrast with the black and white. The casting is also very good, except for Jessica Alba.
Thanks. Those are some of the words that crossed my mind. At the time, however, most of my blood was not in my mind, but in another part of my body, so I couldn't think clearly. I also liked the cars. Rather than futuristic flying machines, they used some done-up retro style vehicles. They reminded me of my toys when I was a kid. The wat the cars moved was exciting, too. Again, it reminded me of the way kids push toy cars along the pavement. I hope they don't spoil it with the sequel. That's what normally happens, isn't it?
I think the sequel should be alright, there is still more story to tell, After all, Frank Miller, the guy who wrote the graphic novels, is assistant director, so I'm sure he knows what he wants
I hear that they're shooting a second AND third film, being shot back to back. I'm hoping for some more killer violent marv action in the "dame to kill for" story, should be wicked
I almost forgot. Tarantino was guest director in this film. Does anyone know what scenes he was responsible for?
the dead benecio del toro scene.. jackie boy.. in the thunderbird on the way to the tar pits.. that was quentins scene
I loved this film. It was so stylized, like comic book come to life. The white blood against dark clothes, certain body parts or clothing articles coloured against all the B&W. Not to mention, everything was just so over the top and dramatic. The person that was complaining about those aspects obviously didn't see it for the comic-book like genius it was. And the casting was great. I had my doubts about Mickey Rourke and Alexis Biedel, but they pulled off their roles brilliantly, I felt. I can't wait to see #2.
Thanks Atropine. The film was sequenced so well, I would never have guessed. Perhaps if I see it again when it comes out on DVD I might recognize those Tarantino touches. You certainly know your films!
