So, I'm not sure if I'm an anarchist...

First off, I completely believe in no government for many reasons.

However, I also believe that it's irresponsible to not invest in the current government atleast a little. For instance, if I were old enough, I would still vote in the upcoming election, because I think there's always a better.

    Hi there!

Welcome to the forum... I myself have just returned after a long break.

Anarchism, as I understand it, is the active pursuit of a world free of oppression of any kind. Under this loose definition, you could say that all government is inherently evil, and you'd be right. However tactically speaking, I think there are times when having a particular person in office for a time could conceivably advance this goal. I have to stress SOMETIMES, though, as I myself have only ever voted once: A municipal election, in my home town, where there was to be a new expressway through an important expressway. The candidate in question was opposed to the project, and electing him was one way it could possibly have been stopped. By no means did we put very much faith in this (the election, as it turned out was a complete fraud), and so voting was kind of an auxiliary to a much wider array of tactics which included canvassing, blockading, and eventually tree sitting.
The rule of thumb here is that municipal, or local elections have the most impact on people's day to day lives, and the higher on up the chain you go, the less of a difference you will make, the more indistinguishable the candidates will be: Once at the top, their platforms are the same; that is to serve the status-quos.
