Only bug you gotta be wary of is ticks, and theyre in tropical cliamates.
Theyre bad cos they anchor and burrow under your skin and cause infections... so if you have ticks inyur skin, be sure to seek medical advice if you dont know how to get it out properly.

    yipe! See, that's scarey! :&

I heard the bugs there are lots bigger than those in north america. James used to work with someone who lived in australia, and she told him a story about how she ran into this huge spider in her house like the size of a hand. He read another story on some autralia forum, where some guy took down a wall clock, and there was a giant spider, the size of the clock hiding behind it. FUCK I WILL SHIT IF I SEE A SPIDER THAT BIG!!!! I have goosebumps right now just thinking about it. You guys have no idea how scared i am of bugs. Like, i get sweaty and faint feeling, and i feel like i'm going to throw up. I still can't wait to get there though :)

Huntsman spiders are the big hairy ones, but they are harmless. Redbacks are poisonous .Some people dies form a bite, others just become ill. They are a smallish black spider with a red spot - quite obvious. Funnel web spiders are only found in certain parts of Australia. Where I am there is a small brown spider that is not even ½" wide. Some one did get bitten by one and ended up in hospital. They did recover.

What you should rell worry about is mosquitoes. They are more than annoying, they carry some nasty diseases such as Ross River fever and encephalitis.Bear in mind they only like still air so if you have the fan on when you are asleep, you should be able to keep them away.

Summer is a real bastard in Australia, between the mosquitoes and the flies it can get a bit unbearable, but as for spiders and beetles I wouldn't really worry, they're either harmless or you'll get heaps of people pointing them out.
generally tho, black spiders are bad (redback or white-tip mostly), brown spiders are okay, and stay well clear of the european wasps, they can get really angry, while the bees tend to be pretty passive

We have lots of bugs, apart from the common ones that have already been mentioned you are not likely to bump into anything fun like scorpions or bird eating spiders unless you go looking for them. Your common garden spiders generally only come out at night and ticks are found everywhere, there are also leaches, giant beetles and moths, stick insects and centipedes. Then there are the snakes:eek:

I live in adelaide... not a lot to see here.. but its notbad... but yeah, oz is beautiful but keep in mind... its big, and very spread out.

Melbourne is more artsy, has more of a youth vibe than sydney, which is more business oriented... Brisbane is meant to be very nice, but I've not been there ... but yeah, melbourne is the hippy, vegan, arty, musical mecha of oz.

northern new south wales is where most of the hippies go...to die, just like elephants.

there are lots of rainforrests and things up there. but i dont like the humidity.

but yeah we have really big huntsman spiders. its ok if you see one in your room and you know where it is, but if it moves somewhere, you gotta make sure it isnt crawling in your bed. i dont think those ones are poisonous but they are still bloody big.

its the hoop snakes and drop bears that you have to worry about. and tasmanian devils.
