Does anyone watch the soaps on "ABC"? What do ya think of the show "All My Children"? I get to watch that most of the time before I go to work.

American soap operas are horrible. I watch ones in Spanish because they're also horrible, but at least it's funny. I've tried to watch soaps before, but I can't get into them due to the fact that you have to know so much backstory. Plus they never end. Telenovelas (Spanish soaps) actually have endings.

A true soap has everything played out on screen with no scenes left to played out in the viewers imagination.

I like CBS and NBC soaps. Days of Our Lives is my favorite.

Y&R over here... although I haven't been watching it too much lately. Some of the storylines are pissing me off. But Malcolm is back, and he's a sexy, sexy man, so that helps a little. SilverClover14, you're so right about having to know backstory... it always helps (when starting a new soap) to be watching it with someone who's been watching it for a while. That way they can help clear up the confusion. With the Y&R what gets the most confusing is who has been married to who, because Y&R is just one big bed-hopping good time. rofl :p So of course, there's always lots of paternity issues!!

I've been watching soaps like Y&R from the early 70s when I was a toddler, but I have lately come to find that I dislike them. I no longer watch Y&R because I find it excruciatingly boring, like paint drying. At least Days Of Our Lives has got elements of escapism these days, but I try not to watch it anymore as I'm trying to switch off TV at all times (except when Seinfeld is on). The Bold and The Beautiful has gone right down the chute since they brought in all those new (and boring) characters about a year ago.

I could never get in to soaps... I've tried but the story lines stretch out for far too long, it's irritating...

None. It's the antithesis to interesting. We don't have ABC but I don't expect *your* soaps to be any better than *ours*.

TV in general doesn't interest me all that much.

Missfontella, did you do the colour contrast ( or lack thereof, more specifically ) in your signature pic on purpose or is the apparent "Beware the ass-" just a funny, thought-provoking accident? :)

I used to love Ronn Moss (Ridge) but good God, he's the most wooden actor around! And every storyline around him and that floozy Brooke is so lame. I would consider watching again if Brooke got back with Deacon. I love Deacon.
