I decided to start a thread about my progress Here is a couple days after backcombed (although I didn't backcomb like most do, I just backcombed my hair like some did in the 80's): 2.5 months: 3months(after bleaching, I didn't want my hair super blonde, just strawberry blonde): I think they are coming along not too bad, and I really think the small bleaching I did helped them a lot. The only thing I kind of dislike is , looking at my hair it is hard to tell I even have some dreads, it just looks like one huge mess.
ah its definately progressing though do u wear a wool hat alot? i think it could use a lil bit more ripping maybe and if u toss in some beads it will speed up and maybe skip the aloe unless it really needs it..is too dry
u do have very very pretty hair and it will just get prettier as timer goes by u got alotta good looping going on and some seem to be forming nice dreads towards the tops just not the full length yet this is where i think doing a thourough ripping session then spraying with sea salt (or the ocean) thenj toss in some beads and tuck it in a tam will really help it dread more along the whiole length trty to get the beads to stick close to the ends as u can (or add 2 beads if 1 slides too far up, add a second smaller 1 lower)
Thanks I try to wear a wool cap but it gets difficult to keep on with my crazy little guy trying to snatch it off. I tried some wood beads before but they all fell out, so I am going to try and make some clay beads. I will try to use the sea salt more often. I have about 22 dreads but my hair was really really thin to begin with, so I think my dreads will be a long journey
Here they are at 4 months: I think they changed a lot And an action shot: Anyone know why I have so many loops in my dreads? I think they make them look so messy.
Naaaaice The loops are just where part of the dread is tightening faster than the other bits They are good to watch xD They are always changing ^^
Thoes dreads are forming up pretty nicely indeed gretaoto.... Just keep in mind that they are going to potentially shrink alot in length between months 6-12.. Allthough they will get nice and fat and knotty as the result..
i really like 'em! the loops are the best bit =] tbh when i first saw that youd backcombed differently (ie not sectioned then backcombed) i wasnt sure how itd turn out, but im pleasantly surprised
the dreads are looking great. make sure no one tells u to cut them. mine started out the same way,now they are stronger then ever. good luck.
wow those are so gorgeous! and that last pic is sexy. dont worry about the loops, they mean your dreads are locking up. they do tend to smooth out eventually.
So it's been 6 months and I think they are looking much better. Some tips rounded and some I rounded myself, and any loose hairs underneath I twisted and ripped.
OoooooooOOoo! I like them! It's amazing to see how mcuh lenght you have lost throughout the process. Do you miss it at all? It's such a nice loopy mess. Oh... and did you dye it again? It looks darker than the bleaching photos.
