Somewhere that you've supposedly never been...

I wonder about this sometimes. I tend to believe in reincarnation, so I feel that we may have had past lives. Who I was, where I was, how I was, I have no idea. But what makes me wonder is I have flashes of memories, places where I can describe to a "T", yet I've been told that I have never been to or at those places. Is this making any sense?

For example, I have a memory of being on a boat, a big boat somewhere on a very cold, dreary day. In this memory, I was a very young girl. But when I've questioned my parents, they've insisted that I've never been anywhere like that.

What about feeling that you've already known someone from some other time in your life, a past life perhaps? With my husband, I have felt that I've known him before, somewhere in my life. He's always seemed familiar to me, even when I first met him, I felt as though I already knew him. Could it have been a past life? Is this reincarnation, as well as destiny? Many years back, one night under the influence of alcohol in which case I was slipping on the border of being unconscious, as I lay in the bed, my husband said that I began rambling about how I knew him, that I knew him before. Was this simply a drunken haze, or was I becoming connected with something from my past?

Sometimes the memories seem so real...could they simply have been a result of dreams? Or is it a memory from another life?

Just a thought...

 

...and you know what scares me sometimes? What if this is all a dream. What if this is what happens when you die, it's an eternal slumber filled with dreams, what if none of this is real. This life, what if it's a dream, and the dreams that I have within my supposed life during slumber are dreams within dreams. Ugghh. I need to stop.

When I look at that I know ive dreamed about it before, or something, I dont know what but i just feel a big connection to it. And I know I have never seen it before 3 nights ago, but I feel like its a world I've visited before.

Maybe thats what happens, other than being reborn into ur self.

What if when you die its like u keep living, say you die in a plane crash. To you the plane never crashed. Because you create your own reality.

I knew many of the people i now know in a previous existence. I dare say weve all been here thousands, millions of times before. I mean, i was BORN with knowledge of this planet. I had thoughts as a child i couldnt POSSIBLY have had if this was my first ever visit here, about countries id supposedly never even heard of, and of people id supposedly never even met...some of which im now coming to encounter once more

My mothers actually been regressed by a qualified hypnotist and says she was a farmer man in her last incarnation. Id love to know exactly who i was, and who the people i love were.

i used to get caught up in those thoughts, but now i kinda figure the universe is just having a thought and we're it, and since the universe cant realy forget anything we should be ok

on the subject, I was watching a show on the travel channel one time and they were in denmark going down a street. just before they turned a corner i knew what was gonna be there, weirded me out

You could be right. There's also the theory of a shared conscience. It states that if tapped into we can share memories with anyone that has lived, and gain their knowledge. There were studies done on this and it was very interesting. Google it for some more info... Yes, I am lazy tonight...

 

I thought about that line of thinking tons a few years ago... kinda freaky but also kindof comforting in a strange way.

as for past lives, well. I do believe in them, and in reincarnation, but I don't feel any connections to anything even vaguely recent. Most recent would be when the Mayans were in power. Yeah... a little while ago

 

I assure you, there are no past lives. These things are made up in your mind, just like if you trip on acid, but not as vivid. If there was reincarnation then everyone would experince these things and I never have. And when you die you go to Heaven or Hell, but if you don't know that then you're going to Hell.

I don't know why this thread was bumped, but hey, I don't call your posts lame, in fact, I've been nothing but friendly to you.

 

And i assure you that the "if you dont believe this youre going to hell" line has become way too old for this world.

I used to have patience with you people, but for Gods sake. Wake up and live in the age were in, stop making lame threats about burning mystical magical firey lakes and open up your mind a little. This was a good thread which raised a point about feelings which many of us have experienced. How dare you try and degrade it all and claim its nothing more than a dellusion, "just like if you trip on acid"? Who are you to say were all dellusional and destined for hell, while youre absolutely sane, conscious and heading on up to the spirit in the sky?

 

P.s-Also, the fact that you seem so adamant that what you said is right and is fact and everyone else is wrong tells me youre perhaps frightened to look into other possibilities. I mean, if youd have presented your argument to me in a different manner(i.e-not threatening and patronising) i would have happily considered your point of view and used it to expand on/change my own theories. Yet you seem unable to do this with other peoples responses. Almost like youve closed your mind completely and believe you have all the answers. And this is a shame i hope im wrong and this is not how you are, because as a philosopher once said(It might have been Jesus actually, im not sure.)- When you believe you have all the answers you are actually furthest from the truth.
