Have any of you ever heard a song that paints of picture of what its about? I'm in love with this song called Hotel California, by the Eagles. Hearing that song just makes me feel like i'm there with the singer. Driving down the highway and pulling in at the hotel with all the spirits. Its just such an awesome song. This song is partly the reason I took up the guitar. What songs paint pictures for you?
Kashmir by Led Zeppelin is a good one and I agree about Hotle California too. I can usually get something out of most songs, but those would have to paint some of the prettiest pictures hehe
Yes, Hotel California is definietely first on my list. When Henley sings the line "you can check out anytime of day but you can never leave", man, what a picture that forms in my head! A close second is Fire and Rain by James Taylor. Maybe it's just because I used it in one of my films but knowing the background of the song and why Mr. Taylor wrote it helps pain a vivid picture.
"Stairway to Heaven" is my first choice, especially because of the part just before "and as we wind on down the road". "A Day In The Life" does it for me as well, especially the build up into the "woke up, got out of bed.." part. And that last chord that rings forever...
there are a few songs that paint images in my mind sometimes, songs such as the beatles "a day in the life" or jimi hendrixs "little wing". I find that if i listen to a whole album from start to finish, the whole album screens a motion picture in my mind. Albums like Pink Floyds "Dark Side of the Moon", radioheads "Kid A", or modest mouses "the moon and antartica".
GRATEFUL DEAD "DUPREES DIAMOND BLUES" defininitly paints a picture and a damn good picture at that, another good one is phish "when the circus comes to town"
how about lucy in the sky hehe >>>>> Picture yourself in a boat on a river, With tangerine trees and marmalade skies Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly, A girl with kaleidoscope eyes. . . . . . . . But i agree with RFyellow, u just gotta really feel the song! usually each song i listen 2 i imagine it!!
check out a song by belle and sebastian called "ease your feet by the sea"... listen to it, you'll know exactly what i'm thinking of...
Dissection - Where dead angels lie Remarkably graceful song by the way ( for black metal standards )... sort of a ballad, even? In the dawn an angel was dancing sorrounded by an aura of light But in the shadows something was watching and with patience awaiting the night ( Angel whispers: ) Mournful night, attractive night, your dark beauty obsesses me An angel bewitched by the shadows Seduced by the whispering lies [ Chorus: ] A spell was cast an the sky turned red The angel's heart froze to ice The blackness that falls is coming to stay Under the snow lies angels so cold Dusk has passed and a cold morning breeze is sweeping all over the plain, On the ground lies an angel with skin so pale, On her face an image of pain, Snow is now falling to the frozen ground, The angel is covered by white, Frost is spreading across the plain, to welcome the eternal night. The dress is white with crystals of ice and frozen roses so red Roses of blood from an innocent soul On the plain lies an angel dead [ Chorus: ] A spell was cast an the sky turned red The angel's heart froze to ice In the gloomy sky black clouds were gathering The silence was broken by cries A spell was cast an the sky turned red The angel's heart froze to ice In the gloomy sky - The silence where dead angels lie Touch the snow... Caress the lifeless sculptures... Die! [ Chorus: ] The blackness that falls is coming to stay, Under the snow lies angels so cold, Yet with each crystal of frost that is falling, another story is told, A spell was cast an the sky turned red, The angel's heart froze to ice, In the gloomy sky - The silence where dead angels lie.
all songs do paint a picture..but i will chose one that makes me completely zone out it would probably be Blackhole by Beck, i dont know why, but this song makes me zone out beyond belief
Neil Young's Sugar Mountain gives me some vivid mental pictures, as well as Jump Little Children's Cathedrals and Carbon Leaf's The Boxer. The Boxer is more based on just the music itself, because I immediatly invision a drunken Irish bar party.
for me, most goth metal paints images for me. Nightwish are always really good for that, and 'Circle of fear' by HIM is amazing for that too. I like songs with fantasy -type lyrics coz theyre usually really pretty and paint some really great images in ur mind.Thats one of the reasons i love goth metal so much peace and love xxxxxx
Yeah, Sugar Mountain is a good one. Wasn't Born to Follow by The Byrds paints a wonderful picture for me.
I get a picture from pretty much any song I listen to, mainly because that's the why my mind works. But the artists that stick out in my mind most are Joni Mitchell, the Dead, and the Beatles.
