sol, isnt really anything but sterile water.. and they can germinate in there too.. they will look white.. If you really have concerns about spore life, you should buy a microscope.. I did and if you know what your doing (still learing myself actually ) shake the syringe vigorously, get a slid and put a drop from your spore syringe on it.. you will not contaminate your syringes by doing this..
cool..thanks for your help..though i don't think i'll be able to score a microscope anytime soon : ) but is there a rough estimate of time or does it just vary randomly?
im gonna say it varies randomly.. I got my microscope a few weeks ago.. but tbh I only looked at spores once.. the rest the stuff, was eye lashes, blood, insects. that kinda thing..
yeah the syringe will last for ages - just DO NOT open the thing covering the needle until you innoculate your jars, if you do it before then you'll have basically wasted a syringe.
