I found a job where it doesn't come close to mattering what my hair looks like, and i surely don't care what I look like around campus during the first stages of the process, so I have decided to start growing dreads! I will post quarterly updates so you can all help me along My hair is only about 3 inches long, but grows fairly quickly, about 3/4'' a month, maybe a bit more. But, it's as a good a time to start as any. I'm excited edit: the sides are longer than they look, they are matted and combed forward, still not very long though
Good Luck! The dread process is long and fraught with difficult times. But if you have patience, it's all worth it! Have you ever considered being Shia Laboeuf's stunt double? You could make a fortune!
Is that an old picture because no way is your hair 3 inches in that picture Actually grow some hair before thinking about growing dreads
My hair is extremely wavy, it's quite longer than it looks when pulled straight, but yes, that picture is from about 3 weeks ago. I know i can't start the process yet, but why should I wait to think about it?
Cause you're gonna get super short locks and make threads about how you wish they were longer or ask you can speed up the growth
haha I dig that dude, it's cool. I said I was going to post quarterly updates, which should suggest i understand the amount of time involved. I see where you are coming from though.
Really? I can only think of two people that no longer have their dreads. To OP, your hair does look super curly/wavy. Are you going to backcomb or anything or just let it dread on its own as it grows out?
Yeah true, not many newbs come and go on here. However, the majority do make stupid ass threads all the time
I think I'm going to let it do it's thing until at least the fall just to see how my hair behaves. I was a military brat growing up, and got out of the marines myself only about a year ago, so I've never had the opportunity to grow it out, so I don't really know what to expect with it!
lmao @ pat trying to start drama (once again) and totally failing. op, what method are you going to use?
Once I have something to actually grab onto and work with, I think I will try backcombing. My hair is naturally curly and frizzy, and the climate here is EXTREMELY humid, so I am expecting good results
pat, you're just mad b/c you failed. i know you're bored now. so just leave. idiot. starscream, good for you. can't wait to see pics!
You're just mad cause you cant figure out what catch u next tuesday means now go complain black people don't like you
