So I stopped combing my hair on Wednesday, thus beginning my journey towards dreads. I guess I'll just keep updating this thread with pictures once and a while. How often should I update with new pics? Btw, it's amazing how crappy my hair is starting to look already. And any recommendations to avoid having my hair in my eyes all the time?
hey! i only started like a day before you! i wonder who will dread quicker? update once a month or so? that's what im plannin on doin anyways... just remember to enjoy the journey
Congrats!! I love looking at all the pics on this forum and would never complain about someone posting too many pictures of their locks. =) Wear a hat or bandanna to keep the hair out of your eyes.
totally sweeeet! Look forward to seeing some results. Sit tight and don't fuss with your hair to much less noticing = faster dreading
if you wear something like a bandana or tam during the day to keep the hair outta your eyes make sure you let it free to move for the same amount of time.
Day 4: That piece near my nose almost resembles a dread in some places already. Near the end it is fairly matted together. Also, I can see like individual strands of hair sticking out of it, and they're really wiry and loopy looking. This process might actually go faster than I expected.
firstly welcome to the club, so you going neglect, great, id suggest you go ahead and just forget about your hair for a good six months cause you seem, as you should be, very excited. just stop worrying about it and you will have dreads before you know it
:iagree: at four days you aren't going to be seeing much, and if you inspect your hair everyday for progress you'll get discouraged. Just put a hat on them and forget them for awhile!
So far nothing, since I'm a poor college student, but once I get home I'll probably start wearing a hat while I'm in the house.
Awesome im stoked i luv to watch the progress of dreadies on the road of naturalism ... best of luck on your journey and if you ever get discouraged just post here for encouragement!
I would suggest you wash your hair with a residue free shampoo every 2 to 3 days. As the oils will slow the dread process. Also sea salt works wonders for getting those knots started, good luck on your journey. I will be there right with you, just started my second time around with dreads. i will post pics o9f my journey, so we can compare.
already showing any progress at a week ios good but ya shouldnt worry bout weekly progress much..forget all about the passage of time and dreads seem to happen in no time at all
