So I was on NORML's website and just going through state by state & comparing each state's laws and who had the toughest & loosest. From what I saw Maine, Alaska, and Mississippi seem to have some of the loosest laws. The toughest seemed to be South Dakota, they had really tough & ridiculous laws (like if you piss test positive for weed its considered possession). What have your people's experiences been? I live in Ohio & I personally have never had any incidents but I have plenty of friends who have & we have pretty loose/lenient laws here & so cops for the most part are ok (obviously it depends on the town/area).

I'll say this, the whole west coast is decently lenient, but one state over it all goes to shit.

I live in NY and possession of 25g or less is a $100 fine, however having paraphanalia is not so lenient I guess. Basically in NY dont carry your pipe with you but weed is okay.

NH has that Internal Possession law too. Where if a cop suspects you are under the influence and piss dirty (even if you havent smoked in weeks) its considered possession. So much for the whole "Live free or die" Slogan.

minnesota is lax.. i think we have one of the loosest laws without having marijuana legal for medical purposes.. or decrim for personal reasons..

minnesota is decrim up to 42.5g... just a tad over an ounce and a half.. but every state around minnesota is crazy about marijuana laws.. wisco is a pain in the ass if you get caught.. same with iowa and the dakotas..

Colorado is fairly lax, under an oz is an infraction just a fine and you don’t have to appear in court. I think it is the same fine as J walking.

I'm from Maine. you can have up to an ounce on you and anything larger than that is considered intent to sell. We have medical too.

colorado is awesome. BUT its denver city/ county laws that are good in this state. if they try you in city or county of denver not so bad, but if they try you at the state or federal level you are fucked. thats how they are getting around the denver decriminalization.

don't have to worry about it unless you get caught.

the NORML website is decent for a general overview of cannabis-specific laws, but it can be rather misleading.

for instance you probably noticed from the looks of things, marijuana is for all intents and purposes decriminalized in ohio. possession of paraphernelia can potentially get you up to 30 days in jail, but thats it and its not a MMS, its actually the exception in most cases. far more likely is a night downtown and some probation. possession of herb itself though, up to 100g, is a very minor offense. so as long as you dont have a pipe on you, you can have a good bit of herb and not get more than a 100 dollar fine and no criminal record, no time in jail (perhaps detained in a cop car while paperwork is filled out, though)

but what they neglect to mention is a law against "drug abuse" (in general, not marijuana specific)

i had a friend in high school who got pulled over in westerville with a pack of cigarettes and a little resin. she got in trouble for underaged possession of tobacco, possession of marijuana (the resin), and drug abuse. all in all for some smokes and a little resin she got in way more trouble than she would have for a single bag of herb and nothing else....

there are all sorts of BS laws they use to tack extra trouble onto your "offense"

Yeah, in my OP I purposefully didn't mention certain states that we all pretty much know have lenient laws (Cali, etc) but like Miss. really suprised me on how lax they are, on the other hand it suprised me how ridic. SD was.
