His most recent book, Under The Dome, was amazing. I strongly recommend it.
But The Stand is hands down the greatest book ever written. I read it about 7 years ago and I think I'm gonna read it again. I havn't read The Cell, maybe I'll read that first.

The unabridged version of The Stand is rock solid as are the first three Dark Tower books.

The first real novel I ever read was The Shining, when I was 12 years old. I've been hooked on King ever since. No other author really does it for me.

A lot of his writing is kind of awful but Insomnia really blew my mind.

    Ive read:

    The Stand
    Insomnia
    The Gunslinger (Dark Tower 1)
    Salems Lot
    Eyes of the Dragon
    Running Man
    Pet Semetary
    Misery

I read part of Geralds Game and the first few books of The Green Mile but didn't finish either of them.

Ive always wanted to read IT but that's a long ass book and of course The Shining too

I prefer his short stories to his full length novels. I just bought Under the dome but I haven't read it yet.

I prefer his shorter stories as well.

I've read a lot of Stephen King, but I just can't get into him. His writing is just too predictable to me... Maybe I think too much like him :p

I know he's fairly respectable and knowledgeable, and I do (greatly) enjoy some of his works. But overall, meh.

I've only read Duma Key and the first two of the Dark Tower series. My brothers read nearly all of his stuff (he is a reader, I am not :p) and says the series turns shit after the first few books. All of the king fans I know don't like the Dark Tower books either.

I'd like to read more of his books however.

I prefer his short stories to his novels. I tried to read the Dark Tower series but i couldn't get into it. I love his short story collections Night Shift and Everything's Eventual. But my absolute favorite thing by him is his short story The Jaunt. it's a total mindfuck and scares the shit out of me for some reason.

I've read a number of his books. Usually really good stuff. Finished "Under the Dome" - good but not one of my favorites. Working on "It" now - I'm about 4/5 through but just got an iphone and can't get off the damn games. I'm really enjoying the book though. I loved "Pet Cemetery" - Incredible - I've read it twice and seen the movie. Salems Lot, Carrie - excellent. Cujo and Christine - Yikes.

The original version of the gunslinger will always be my favorite King book.

I think Kings best work is stuff that doesn't involve the supernatural like misery or stuff he wrote as Richard Bachmann.

I want to punch King for the last 3 books of the dark tower and the revised version of the gunslinger. Oh what terrible pieces of shit, especially songs of Susannah, that book still makes me angry. I had read every single King book in anticipation for the end of the dark tower series; to see all the connections, what an incredible waste of my time.

But anyway honorary mention goes to Christine. For a book about a haunted car, it is incredibly grim and spooky and completely played straight unlike the movie version. I was shocked by how good the novel was.

Thumbs down to It for the mystical child gang bang
