A system of storms and tornadoes swept through the South last night, destroying homes and leaving 249 people dead. Was anyone affected by this? We were lucky here; it barely missed us. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/42794539/ns/weather/
Not affected here, but I was trying to catch up on the news early this morning as I was concerned by all the damage and loss of life. My sister lives down in that area as well, but all the big three news could manage to do was talk mindlessly about the upcoming Royal family wedding in England while here in the US almost 250 Americans died.....WTF? I turned the crap off and listened to PBS and got more info there....:-/
Mainstream media is so sickening. The fact that the royal wedding and Charlie Sheen's latest exploits always take precedence over real news disgusts me. Thank god for news outlets like PBS and NPR.
yeah theres basically nothing about the storm on Canadian news.. I was watching CTV and they had some news guy going to psychics asking who will win the election.. That is not news!!!!.. I cant wait for the election and royal wedding to be over..
I just saw something on the news about how scientists are going to spend a few months trying to figure out exactly how and why the storm system missed my area. What they plan to do with what they find out, i have no idea...
the death toll is now 290 and rising... so sad. Tornadoes are so scary. I stayed up until 4 in the morning last night waiting to see if we were going to get hit. I didn't want to be caught unaware.
Somethings happening / different in these new mega storms happening in the United States . These storms are HUGE and deadly . They are happening way too frequently now . It's as if somethings changed in the environment . These weather patterns are becoming very unstable and erratic . It looks as if this pattern will continue for the near future . I think we had better become more vigilant , aware and tuned into weather changes and storms , especially in the regions prone to these freak weather phenomenons. As if the economy wasn't bad enough , now many of these poor people are homeless on top of everything else.
thunder woke me up at 4:00 am. i got up to see if all the noise was wind or rain. it was just rain. it rained extremely hard for just a few minutes and that was it.
yeah, and fuck prince what's-his-name and kate middleton up the ass, I'm so sick of those god-damned people I've hardly watched any television recently, but when I do turn it on, it's wall-to-wall wedding shit. Along with the non-stop coverage of the minutia of the newlyweds-to-be (full news coverage of where kate likes to shop), the ads are saturated with announcers with phony british accents. bullshit! I imaging it is disheartening for people who are experiencing the disaster to be spurned in favor of this nonsense
Thats what I'm thinkin. All these natural disasters are getting bad. The Earths getting extra volatile lately.
I just caught a news segment about this. The damage looked awful, very sad. Glad to hear you were missed Meliai. Obama is going to Alabama tomorrow, the state that got hit the worst. I'm not slinging mud here, but how long was it until Bush flew over top of New Orleans?
I don't remember exactly but I think I remember it took him a couple of days to even publicly acknowledge the disaster. arrrghhhh more royal wedding coverage on msnbc right now. I can't wait until they get married so the media will stop relentlessly covering this shit.
