What's happening in France these days is very interesting. We've also had some student protests in Denmark lately. The students are protesting against the idea making peoples studies profitable. The students are protesting against the governments urge to turn universities into schools for serving the capitalist interests. The french & the danish situation is different to eachother, but in both cases students are protesting, so maybe some kinda coordination would be a good idea? love and understanding, -wolf
I agree that something needs to be done, but rioting's not the answer. The thing is, that there are over a million students in France protesting and those numbers speak for themselves, so resorting to burning cars and attacking police is a step backwards.
We had some riots in Dublin not so long ago, they were supposedly to do with the North of Ireland issue, but were deemed by alot of papers to be the discontent of those in disadvantaged areas in Dublin with the government and police. here's the lowlights... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jl21TpdzLh4&search=dublin%20riots
I agree, Anaconda man. I don't think violent riots are the solution. I'm for the Gandhi-methods. But here we've got these riots. I can't control the methods in which the french students are acting according to - that's their decision - but I know that I sympatize with their frustrations. But one thing is for sure: The french system is lamed. It's a crisis to their government. Sorbonne is occupied. The children of tomorrow turn against the establishment. They demand a new republic. And that's good... love and understanding, -wolf.
I totally agree, the government in France is really messed up, that's why there's a second major disturbance there in a small space of time. The youth of France seem to always get a raw deal, and I do sympathize too. Maybe this will bring about change in the long run.
students in germany were prostesting against tuition last summer, sadly, barely anyone came. the prostests were very peaceful, and nobody heard them. We are suppose to start paying, they say everything will be better, but I doubt that. I don't believe my professor will be in town more then once a week, just because I pay 500 € in summer 2007 per semester. The government is fucked up, it all started long ago, and we, students, families, unemployed, the weaker side of society have to pay for it, while the big business pays barely any taxes, takes workplaces to eastern europe, while we're hitting the record marks in unemployment.
Seems like that french, german, and danish students got some common interests here... So why don't we coordinate our actions? btw, I'm sure Muhammed Ali, as a believing moslem, will be proud to be portrayed wearing a bomb in his hat. Bcuz a bomb in a hat is a symbol of strength. Muhammed Ali is among my biggest idols ever. Cool. love and understanding, -wolf.
Me too. I mean no disrespect with it, Muhammed Ali is one of my biggest idols too and was an explosive fighter when he decided to turn up the volume. Seems the riots are getting worse, I hope they can resolve the issue peacefully soon.
He made politics through his body. Not through aggressions, but through dancing. Through dancing victory come. All students shall make changes through their bodies, Not through aggressions, but through dancing. Through dancing victory will come - some day. love and understanding, wolf.
The student's movement in France is really big! They got courage and strenght, unions now are on their side and the Government is really in a mess! I also notice in the last demonstration (3millon people) they were able to dismiss the "caseur"'s violence, well at least not to get involved with them..anyway violence was isolated and they kept goin on on their way..I think that after all in France they (young people) got an awarerness we don't have in the rest of Europe..at the moment..
To witness what the french youth are doing these days... That make them role models to me. I hope this will spread to the rest of Europe. Actually, I'm quite amazed, and all I need to say is: THUMBS UP - KEEP IT ON - MAKE THAT REVOLUTION!!! (and please: do never ever start negotiate with your government - just turn it off - NOW you've got the power to do so)... You rule..! love and understanding, -wolf.
I don't think it's more awareness they have, I just think they are far more verbal and active in their opposition to the government . I find it very refreshing to see protests on such a large scale in Europe especially in this day and age when people have become cynical and bored with politics.
