I will be spending a week in the Dillon Colorado area in early October. The group is mostly childless couples in their 20's, and a fun bunch to vacation with. What activities should we be careful not to miss? Suggestions?
Periods of fall and late spring are known as "mud season." Generally summit county is dead due to no snow and people generally come here in the summer to escape heat and humidity. In the fall nobody is here and this is a good thing for deals. Grab a Summit Dailey. It is a free local paper and it will let you know of dinner/drink deals and local events. Thursday night is ladies night at the Dillon Dam Brewery. There is a summit stage bus which runs free till the early am hours. It runs through frisco which has a nice downtown area with bars, coffee, and all independent shops and restaurants. continue on the bus to breckenridge which is the most lively/touristy sat night spot of the summit county towns
I used to live in Silvertorn. It's a great place for the active life style. You got fishing in the Blue river, green mountain lake, Lake Dillon if your into fishing This time of year people go snaging for salmon. But in October your in the in between season before skiing. great place for site seeing.
