so, i been on paxil for the last month and a half or so, fairly low dose (started at 10mg, up to 20mg)... forgot to take it for a couple days last week and figured i might as well just quit then.

ive been sooooo sick since sunday, and it finally clicked today that its probably because i quit paxil cold turkey. like, left early on sunday, felt like shit nearly every day, went to work today bu twent home immediately after and threw up kind of sick. mostly just nausea (and really vivid dreams, but i dont really care about that)

so now i get to taper off by doing 10mg for the next week or so, and ill probably go down to 5 for a week after and then quit. but, stupid. i hate depending on a chemical like that

Paxil is dangerous to stop cold turkey. I did, thankfully didn't have any symptoms, but it can actually be life-threatening.

It's good that you are tapering off.

Also try to get out a bit in the next few days, get a little sun and see some friends. It'll make it easier. The way SSRI's work, it's not really that bad to miss a day or two.

Unfortunately after a while... 6 months or so they all stop working anyway and become as effective as placebo.

In my mind, this kinda cements my thought that SSRI's should be reserved for things more akin to seasonal affective disorder and temporary bouts with depression. Not chronic depression or PTSD.

If you need the medicine I wouldn't deny yourself of that. Sometimes it's not just us feeling like we are down. A chemical imbalance is a real thing. Some of us can't eat enough of the right foods or manufacture in our heads the right chemicals to feel balanced.

I've had this fight with myself so many times. I go on/off medicine. Right before my cycle my hormones get so low I get horribly sick in the mornings. If I rough it out without the medicine I'm a wreck.

I hope tapering off the paxil and going solo works for you. :hat:

the side effect of quiting are intentional so as to make you second guess quiting.

It's a good thin you are quiting, just taper off slowly and be careful even for a while after you are off.

actually, most drugs that effect your brain have rebound effects, it's not really intentional, not that the drug companies regret it.

if I stop zonegran and or depakote cold turkey I will have a seizure, and my mood will be utter shit for the next week, if I were to start my full dose of either from zero, the same thing would probably happen, neurochemistry is delicate.

If you weren't coping with babylon you wouldn't have panic attacks.

    It's a strange, fucked up cycle . .

I'm talking about the fact that you would not even have panic attacks if you were born somewhere else, in another time.

But you can't help the fact that you are so stressed, because this world is absolutely insane.

So the pharma companies designed drugs for all you people who are freaking out.
To numb you, turn you into zombies.

I know, it sounds harsh, but it's dead obvious and true.

    You're right.
    I have absolutely no idea.

I mean when you look at human history
    how old are these drugs?

    Not even a decade old?

Yeah people must really need these things . .
