WHAT is the story behind YOU having shoulder pads sewn into your tops?
Are you gonna carry some lumber later in the day? Or maybe play Tackle football with the girls later?
    I don't understand shoulder pads....

I think it was a really popular "modulation" in the 80s. It is still used for some things today, but a lot less. It probably has something to to with the andorynity hype. As wide and big shoulders are a male symbol, and with shoulder pads, you put them on women..... just a quick idea.

Today, I see them mainly in blouses for huge (wide) women. It's probably to "fix"some proportions....

Also, my Abaya (the black dresses that women in the arabian peninsula wear) has shoulderpads, I guess it's to support the hiding of some womenly features.

In my taste shoulder pads look stoopid, but I remember when my mom in the 80 thought that she couln't wear anything without... so it's just a fashion thing. Fashion is often kind of stoopid... right?

The shoulder pads in ladies garments was started in the 40's. They were to take the emphesis off their breast and make them appear more manly, as they were working in men's jobs while the men we fighting WWII. It was a man's design.

Even tho women were doing the same jobs as the men before they inlisted, they got only a pitence of what the man made and were strickly supervised and held no possition of importance in industry. *sigh*

I haven't seen anyone wearing shoulder pads for years. Never understood the purpose of them anyways.

er, all of my jackets have shoulder pads. Really small ones though, not hte huge honkers of the 80's. Most suit jackets have 'em still, at least, almost all hte ones I've run across. They help define shoulders better, make you look stronger and more like you're in power, more authoritative. Just don't use the huge icky ones, those are bad.

    A couple of ideas:

-11-year-old girls can cut them out and use them to stuff their bras.

-A person could sew a little velcro pocket in their and stash weed.

-They should make a variety that's like a maxi pad for little emergencies. Then you're lopsided, though. "Oh, shit, I think I just got my period a couple days early. This always happens when I have a job interview. That's okay, I have Shoulder Padz!"

For women with a buffalo butt having shoulder pads made them seem more in proportion. ----

    -

If their shoulders looked bigger, then maybe ya wouldn't noticed that their hips were to big

I'm not going to insult you. It was JUST a question. I've seen shoulder pads in womens clothes for years. And for your information, Yes. I am married. But! I'm also 44 years old, and had a Mother.
    Thanks for your opinion.
