    The Canadian Parliamentary Cats.

Because they never go hungry, they accept bribes, they don't give a shit about equality, they have an impressive quality to their lives, they live off what they are given, they keep each other warm at night, and they live in some pretty kick-ass condos with a terrific view.

True Democracy doesn't truly exist in any political system in this world.

Also, how would you measure success?

Success can be GDP growth, low crime rates, shinny happy citizens laughing, and everything in between.

    Define "successful".

    How about Saudi Arabia?

Not really, I'm guessing successful here is being defined as a good standard of living wealth wise.

not to be an asshole, but both nazi germany and facist italy were giant cock-ups. The country was left as a pile of rubble, how much more un-successful can you get?

There will not be a successful government until all the world can be peaceful... at which point government will serve its true and sole purpose of public service.

Success is the contining proliferation and peace of all people in the world with no sign or reason of failure.

Until around 1941-42 that would be untrue though. It's hard to keep up a good country when it's being bombed nightly.

Economically yeah Nazi Germany was a success. But the genocide against jews, communists, political disidents and gays sort of over shadows that don't you think?

Yes, but the point is examples of success in non-democratic nations, and the fact was in general in the 30's nazi Germany was.

Singapore and Hong Kong are the best examples. Other Asian countries experiences success while they were not democratic (South Korea, Taiwan), but have passed that stage and are now democratic.

The most successful non-democratic state was the Soviet Union. It was the most powerful country in the world.
