I find myself typing the same things over and over again, links to local family sites and egroups, Lightline numbers, and links to WelcomeHome and WelcomeHere. How do we get a "Sticky" like they have in some of the other forums, so all that info can stay at the top? Maybe a brief description of what the Rainbow Family is, and what we do when we are (and are not?) in the woods. Do only moderators have access to the button that makes a thread Sticky? How else can we make this Forum better?
Yes we should do a sticky of FAQ, just what I was thinking, excellent idea, ... only who is the mod here? where are all the leaders? I bet it's that guy, you see him? The one with the long hair and the beard? (Becca disappears while you turn your head) *poof*
A long time ago, on Ye Olde HipForumes, this forum had a moderator, named Digger. He quit, went on the road, and has not been replaced. Now I don't think that he had much to do, as the folk here have always seemed to be fairly civilized and well mannered, and don't spend all day flamming each other over their different opinions on the Permit Issue, like they do on That Usenet Group. I have been reluctant to suggest to the HipForum High Holies that this forum be moderated, because that would put one person in a position of control/authority, most UnRainbowLike, as I see it, and we seem to moderate ourselves fairly well.(cough..except that idiot redmore..cough)I believe you have to be a dues paying member of the site to qualify for the position, and I can't think of a regular contributor to this forum who is a member. Maybe paix, but she hasn't been to a Gathering. A council of mods? I doubt that the Forum High Holies have the personpower available, and I don't believe we need moderation, just a sticky.
paix has too been to gatherings i know of two rainbow events that we have been togeter. and even though we might not like someone, show some love and not fuel there fire. whatever their trip maybe. some people got to have their drugs and thats the way it is. right or wrong if you call yourself family you have to be accepting, but you dont have to like them. i agree on having a sticky that info is always being retyped
I nominate Turnup for moderator. He knows that there are no 'official leaders' and won't let it go to his head - and does have the scoop on what's happenin. Maybe not 'moderator' so much as forum information disseminator.
Thanks, but I'm too often on the road, or in the woods. Hmmm...maybe that is why we really need a squad of mods...greater chance one of 'em will be at a computer at any given time. And Welcome Back to the World, my friend.
can't one of the mods just make a sticky without us putting one person in control? I appreciate the suggestion of me, but that's too damn much power for me personally, I don't really like power like that, plus with school and work I sometimes get a day or 2 (or more) with no time for the computer, and who know what you hooligans could do in that time We do need a sticky though, I'm so tired of typing the same thing over and over...
NAMASTE If each person PMs Skip i am sure he will put it up.I have been saying this for over a year .I seen kind brothers and sistah who have all had to repost the same links time and time again. This would clear up repeated threads. In Love and Light eccofarmer
what's going on, are we doing this or not? hell, I'll even type the post up, we just gotta PM Skip and ask for it to be made sticky. In fact, I'm gonna type up a basics thing, and post it, and anyone interested can add or subtract things and we can vote on making that the sticky or not. If anyone else wants to type up an alternate that would be awsome too.
You go, girl! I have a hard time actually getting anything done in this library. (Remember when libraries used to be quiet places?) Did I ever email you my "Rainbow 101" package? About 15 or 20 files that a sister name of Dragonfly put together a few years ago. I also have quite a few regional family sites bookmarked, not all of which are cited on WelcomeHome. and here's the LightLine List, that I guess I copied off WelcomeHome: Florida Lightline (352) 463-0450 California Rainbow (916) 747-6269 Colorado Lightline (303) 595-1077 Dutch RB Info-line 020 468 3344 Rhode Island LightLine (401) 785-3175 Philadelphia LightLine (215) 701-7233 North East Rainbow Family NERF (845) 774-4100 North West Tribes Hotline (503) 727-2498 (Portland OR) Mid Atlantic Hotline 202 797-3625 (Washington DC) HO! perfect, I'm typing up a ruff draft right now and I'll post it soon as I'm done. I'm titling it Rainbow baisics or something like that, so just know that's what that is. you never emailed me the rainbow 101, but I'd love it, I'll PM you my email adress, cause I think I've changed it since we last emailed eachother.
It's too bad we don't have leaders. I'd vote for paix. She's 'true rainbow' to me. I've been lucky enough to gather with this sister. She's good such a good heart, definitely what rainbow is about. She even turns down power. What could be more rainbow. And she lives in L.A. but stays bright of heart. Amazing!
Chris, that is truly the kindest thing anyone has ever said about me, you just put the biggest happiest smile on my face, thank you brother! ((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))
hey, if you wanna make a sticky, go ahead and make the family FAQ thread and ask xaosflux to make it a sticky. He's a really excellent moderator, and I'm sure he'll do it for everyone.
Ms Shaina brought this up in the User Support Forum: http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=231575 So, what does everybody think? It's always a good time to talk about how to make this forum better.
i think to have a full time moderator in this forum would be a kin to making the leos shanti sena at the gatherings. so i think its a stupid fucking idea. love n light
if the "mods" purpose is to clean up the threads, place stickies and such ...then why not .... forums require helpers to work properly ...much like kitchens and shitters...
I agree with HHB, but if y'all have issues, just let me know via PM & I'll do the "Unofficial mod thing." I think that a mod here, an assigned mod, is sort of against the Rainbow we all help philosophy.
