maybe its cus its the hipforums, but i assume that most everybody has at least heard the grateful dead. so, what period is your favorite... i myself like the 66-67 stuff, cus it has a killer groove and pigpen plays a more active role. but the stuff they did around the time of workingman's and aoxomoxoa was really wickedy wack too. so, waddya think?

It's hard to say. I have more live shows than anything. I think thier 80's performances rock!

I know a little, but not enough about when albums came out to say when they released thier peak.

I'll always be into the mid-to late 60's stuff. I define it as "hardcore dead".

man, its good stuff... if ya like straight up blues rock, go for the early stuff 965-670 if ya wanna take it out there go for anthem of the sun kinda stuff (67-70) and if ya like cowboys and such... go for post 70 kinda things... the rest o their stuff is like jazz...

'65 and '66 are my favorite years... the keyboards from '67 to '84 or so, I find to be so very very annoying... I also really like their late 80s/early 90s stuff... havent listened to em in a while, though.

please give people time to respond and quit assuming we are ignoring you...it's a pattern. THe GD contingent is either working or in class. we tend to be all over here at night, too.

    that's my take on Phish.
as for GD, I like the years when the sound had lots of country road dust, and that could come out at any time.
Cowboy songs, flashes of NRPS..that sort of thing.
Estimated from Red Rocks in ...was it 77? just vibrates my soul.
The years when Mickey was away are hard on me because I love the two drummers make a wall sound, too.
