So 4 years after cutting them off I have decided it is time for me to take the dreaded journey yet again. My problem is when I work out I sweat quite profusely through my noggin. Washing them is not an option at this point in time. How do I keep myself from developing a head full of skanky dreadies?

I do wash them but I don't want to wash them everyday. I was just hoping someone would have a suggestion for the days inbetween. Oh well...

Doesn't salty sweat has the same effect as the salty sea?

I bought this knotty boy peppermint spray stuff that helps with itchy scalp and leaves a fresh minty aroma after use, I like it. There's also lemon juice...

Yeah, a diluted tea tree and peppermint spray (fill a little spray bottle with water, then add some drops of the E. oil) might help with the itchies. But seriously, washing with Dr. Bronners will do nothing but good for you. You don't want your hair to lock up with dirt, dust and sweat. You just want it to become knotted hair. And like bumble said, sometimes it can help...

Even if you cure your itchies w/o washing, the sweat will still be there. And it will attract dust and dirt all the time, and your dreads will end up not only stinky, but caked in grossness. I'm not saying you have to wash every day. I doubt you work every day. But it won't hurt to just make that part of your get-home ritual. That way as time goes by you'll have nice clean locks, and not the "skanky" ones you're worried about.
