had my dreads for like..8 months now and just started college and 2moro i got to go down to swimmingpool (kayaking practice or sumthing) and was wondering if my dreads will be ok because of the chlorine. obviously when i get out ill be giving them a thorough wash but it wont harm them that much will it?? if any1 can tell me, that would be helpful. ta

i swim in my pool quite often and haven't had a problem. i can't imagine chlorine is good for them, but just rinse them and they should be fine.

Personally, I tend to stay far far far from chlorine pools. No matter how well I wash them after, it seems like the smell stays on me forever. Ew. :) If you don't have any choice, just minimize the submersion of the locks and wash and dry thoroughly as soon as you can.

The no-pool thing has been a general rule for me for a few years... but a year or two ago I broke it, when I hadn't been swimming in ages and we got a hotel room with a pool, I couldn't resist. I regretted it for weeks. Maybe I'm weird that way - chlorine just creeps me the hell out! So for me, it's always ocean water first, running fresh water second. Standing/lake water if I must and I know the area. I love the water, I love swimming... but I am particular! Ah, I must go hiking out to a nice stream sometime soon!

it's still hair Hamish! Only difference it takes longer to dry. Normal hair gets really dry from pools and you need to wash the chlorine out. Same thing with dreadies. Wash em when you get out and they will be fine. Just remember that if you swim in pools alot and don't wash, they will go green. ew

Get a swimming cap? That's what It do, you'd look a right prink, but it'll work.
