    Hi all,
I am in a situation where I consider taking 2 birth control pill packs after each other (Microgynon). I never did this before (and I don't consider doing it again), so I am unsure about how to proceed.

The problem is as follows: I finished the prvious pack 2 days ago. Yesterday I didn't take any pill. I want to start the next 21 pills tonight.

Is there a problem because I didnt take the pill yesterday? I don't want to risk being unprotected and I hope someone can clarify this for me.

Thank you a lot in advance.

You are usually only fertile during that window of days around the 15th day of your cycle.

...Except you don't have a 15th day of your cycle of you've been on the pill for 3 weeks because you shouldn't be ovulating at all. You should be fine. Missing one day after 3 weeks of active pills is really no different than taking 7 days of sugar pills during a regular month-to-month pack. Go ahead and start the next pack, but be sure to be consistent from now on.

Doesn't the info packet that came with the pills have instructions on what to do when that happens?

    Hello all,
I am currently taking 2 pill packs back to back (Microgynon30), I am in the last week of the second pack. I have 3 pills left, i.e. taken 39 pills so far. Is it possible for me to start the 7 day (or less) break NOW, more specifically, to not take the 3 remaining pills?

If yes, could someone explain the theory behind it to me?
I have general knowledge about the pill and how to use it, however this is the first time I'm running more than 1 pack, thus I am fairly unaware of how it works.

Running 2 packs together I feel VERY bloated and have digestive problems, additionally I had some breakthrough bleeding and I just feel very uncomfortable. The last time I had sex was 4 days ago and I dont plan on having sex during the break

I want to start the break as soon as possible and then resume with the usual 21 pills - 7 days break scheme.

I read that once you are in the extended cycle, the pill can be stopped anytime (though not advised) because the hormone level will be high enough to carry you through the 7 days break without being unprotected.

Does anyone have experience with this? I know that in the USA it's more frequent for women to extend the cycle than in Europe (where I'm from), so I thought I'd ask in this forum.

Yes, you can stop right now, just take a pill in 7 days and start a new cycle. You don't need to use an alternate contraception method during this break.

The answer would be different if you did not finish your first pill pack.

Why are you taking two different pills? If you are having breakthrough bleeding your hormone levels are spiking all over the place, and you will probably find yourself with a breakthrough pregnancy.

    Go see a doctor.
