Well I tweaked my knee pretty bad and have barely been able to walk for a few days now.

My question is, the tendon that is right below your knee cap..is that the ACL? It feels different on my injured knee, like it is maybe not all there. Is it possible to partially tear that yet still be able to limp around?

It has been feeling better as time goes by, so maybe it was just a sprain? I have no health insurance so I am trying to avoid dr's if possible.

i don't know. occasionally (not nearly as often now as in high school) my knees will get painfully stiff to the point that i can't bend them, and can't put any weight on them unless they are perfectly straight. sometimes they even swell up from it.

i know i didn't answer your questions at all; but yeah, still talking about knee problems.

Also now I am worried about putting too much strain on it, and I am very active

Whoa! That is exactly what happened to me. I have to walk around keeping my leg completely straight or its severe pain. And it is swollen below my knee cap. Obviously there was trauma that caused it in my case, but it sounds similar.

I have had problems with it before though, sometimes it hurts when I am running, and I was already wearing a brace when I thrashed it

Just last week I hurt my knee!
    What are the chances? xD
Its when I sit crosslegged for too long, then my left knee goes stiff and hurts.
I took some vits (glucosamine to be precise) and that fixed it.
Then like a day or two later, it hurts again.
So i took another one, and its fine.

But i dont want to have to take them regularly. :(

well i've never been to a doctor or anything about it, so i'm really not sure what it is. but for me, it usually gets better on its own after a day or two. i don't think it has ever lasted more than a week at a time.

    Wait....what??

Oh fuck I just looked at a knee diagram, and I know I must have torn or the tweaked one of those ligaments hard. My knee tried to bend sideways and it hurt bad.

If you tear one, do they regrow to full strength or will I be plagued now?

Yeah. I also didn't go to the doctor's for 2 days. I tried to limp it off. Big mistake.

I know my brother tore his cruciate ligament a few times playing basketball as a teen, but he hasn't had many problems since. He doesn't play basketball though.
