This is where we are moving to next summer and I would love to hear your thoughts/stories or see pictures of your visits there. Thank ya.
NAMASTE SISTAH I was down that way a week ago and the area is nice and land is cheap too. Most i found with a small down and and as little as $150.00 in payments for the land. The area is the dryer part of the rockies so keep that in mind. But if you are looking to relocate Colorado is a blast and very high enery and vibes.Hope that helps. Yes, from what we have seen land is VERY affordable! We got 5 acres for a great price. I do understand that that area is sort of desert-y but no worries. We are planning to build either strawbale or earth shelter..or a combo of both. Thanks for your reply.
It's one of the places I need to get to. I tend to stay up north. Next year will be "discover the south." which community is closest to your property?
YAY mahma! Can't wait to properly welcome you guys to the state! Like I said, I've never been down there, but I've heard that it's an absolutely amazing, truly beautiful place. Now I've got a real reason to go there. Looking foward to seeing you!
Any lovely earth mamas wanna drop the niceties of urban societal living to go have a farmstead in the San Luis let me know. Just kidding....sorta...Anyway though, Ive spent a decent amount of time in the area and am completely in love for some reason. I really love wide open spaces and mountains so naturally I like the valley. The Sand dunes are just amazing, and theres nothing like a thunderstorm sweeping across the plains that you can see coming miles away. I was living in Pueblo but managed to go out that way a lot for Jeepin and camping. Unfortunately I had to move back to my homestate of Kansas temporarily for school reasons. To the North of the Valley is the Collegiate Peaks wilderness area that has in my opinion some of the most breathtaking vistas in the state for hikers and people with high clearance 4x4 vehicles. I am going to try to add a few pics of the valley in this post as well. Anyone with any questions feel free to ask as I am pretty well traveled in this part of the world....
if you would like to know more about the san luis valley it would be helpful to check out the two books by christopher o'brien, the mysterious valley and enter the valley. <stmartinspress.com>? what a trip!
grew up in that general direction... so glad I'm not there. Try over the *hill* on 160 into the huerfano valley, Gardner, La Veta.... watch out for all the tweakers in Walsenberg, Blanca & Alamosa. Native~
Yeah, I actually live in Crestone. It's located between Alamosa and Salida. Its a real hippie town, new and old with some great people. If you are an activist then this is a good place to be too. We got a solar farm put up last month near Center. Message me if you have any questions.
