for some reason im allways thinking about 1950's-1990's and comparing them to the 2000's i guess in a way i wish i was more a part of the past generations i just... grew up in a wrong time... ANYWAYS!!

every decade is remembered for stuff in pop culture and as much as i hate to admit it metal is completelly underground in the 00's none of the kids party as hard as the kids of the past and their attitudes arent agnsty its more whatever...
most kids today are into electronica and rap and they like to "chill" scream-o is popular... but thats more punk oreinted than metal and its not very great... are emos just a phase of metal heads through history? or is it its own thing because there are VERY few true metal heads in schools today and they are looked down upon... or were metal heads allways the equivelent of emos just back then there were more of them so they could say they were the cool kids in school? were nerds originally preppy kids? were goths originally cool kids? has everything flipped? in modern day it seems the coolest kids are the preps and ive also noticed the nerds of today wear black and get made fun of... they tend to be ugly and grundgey and not care but they dont party and they make good grades...

when i was in high school (late 90s, early 2000s) the metalheads were all part of the goth group, and the goths were precursurs to today's emo kids. nothing has flipped; I'm sure as far back as the 50s the cool kids are the preppy, wealthy kids that have more advantages in life than the other kids. the kids without the advantages are the ones that become angsty and more alternative.

ohh... so the weirder kids are just remembered more? so like when they look back they will remember us as emo/scene kids of the 00's or will they remember us as preppy hip-hop kids of the 00's?
in the 50's it was more greaser vs soc

they will remember the emo's as the third sex. nobody has any genitals, they make love by rubbing their fringes together.

    it's all pretty emotional.

Yeah, haha! The goths fitted exactly in the space were the emo's fit now. It did crossover with the metal crowd, same as emo's now. Actually, all 'kinds of kids' are present in every decade. They just are in the alt or pop scene of that moment. It's no biggie.

It's strange, I have a totally different perception of reality. Kids still party hard, most probably harder than what they used to do back in the days (raves usually end at 9 AM, there's still full of people dancing at that time and, let's be honest, it's usually a drug buffet), geeks (and not nerds) are considered hot, emos are not related to the metal scene but the punk scene, the coolest kids are the ones who have their own style, an awesome attitude and creativity and today's youth like to chill because we live in Mad Times.

The names and faces may change, but the story of childhood remains the same.

Ha, forgive me but do you really think any of those cultures will be anything more than little footnotes in a hundred years, if you're lucky? Think zoot suits and new wave. You're probably in high school or barely out of it if you think anyone would really care about cliques, especially if they haven't done anything noteworthy.

The reason hippies and beatniks are remembered more so in history is for their links to civil rights (jazz, blacks, homosexuals, free love etc) and notable characters. Punks in the 80's got a little attention and Rap stuff in the 90's but we have become a society that is hard to shock anymore.
